Sadie Sink’s post-apocalyptic musical drama O’Dessa is now available to stream on Disney+.
In a reimagined future, governed by the tyrant Plutonovich (portrayed by Murray Bartlett), depicted in this movie helmed by Geremy Jasper, people are controlled primarily via televisions, and anyone daring to defy him is abducted.
In a turn of events, the country-raised, free-spirited girl named O’Dessa embarks on a journey to the city with a mission: retrieving a cherished family artifact. Along the way, she encounters Euri (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), her destined soulmate, and strives to rescue him from spiritual turmoil.
The cast is rounded out by Regina Hall, Kelly Macdonald, and Mark Boone Jr.

This year, the movie had its debut at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. Now, people can enjoy it right from their homes, as it’s streaming on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Hulu in the United States.
At the moment, O’Dessa has a 50% score on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Mashable’s review, the film seems less like a fresh release and more like a hidden treasure from the past, only recently discovered. It offers a captivating blend of color, sound, joy, and pain that is quite intoxicating.
Starburst Magazine said the film has “got a big heart and is genuinely enthralling”.
According to Morbidly Beautiful, with O’Dessa, Geremy Jasper has released an energetic, colorful concept that is poised to reshape the rock opera genre for a fresh audience.

Some reviews found the tone of the production to be inconsistent, as Screen Rant pointed out that it seemed to straddle between depicting a grim post-apocalyptic reality and telling a sincere romantic tale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it feels like watching an extended movie preview. This production has a unique style and shows signs of great ambition. However, at this point, the 106-minute duration seems excessive given the limited substance it offers.
Besides O’Dessa, it has been announced that Sink will make an appearance in Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland as the main character, Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man).
There’s much excitement among fans who believe she might take on the roles of Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, or Black Cat, although an official announcement about her character hasn’t been made yet.
