Sabrina Carpenter’s Fortnite Outfit Sparks Outrage
As an ardent admirer of Sabrina Carpenter, I can’t help but notice how her captivating dance routines have found their way into the heart of a widely-adored teenage video game.
This week, it was revealed that Fortnite is teaming up with a popular 25-year-old singer, sparking a wave of criticism on various social media platforms.
In the game, players are now able to buy and customize their characters with costumes similar to different versions of her stage outfits from her Short n’ Sweet tour, and mimic her dance steps.
Players have the option to outfit their characters with the sparkly sequinned bodysuit, similar to that worn by the Espresso artist, or the very short babydoll dress she is known for.
A distinctive aspect, undoubtedly familiar, is the ensemble that Carpenter dons while performing her song Juno on stage – specifically a crop halter top, miniskirt, and go-go boots.
During each performance of her tour, when Carpenter sings the song expressing deep affection for her partner and longing to conceive, she showcases a unique, mature dance move or pose that some might consider suggestive or explicit.

Most recently, she was slammed for ‘simulating lesbian sex’ during her Stockholm concert.
Although the game included transparent, white stockings as part of the character’s outfit, presumably as an effort to avoid overt sexualization, numerous social media users remain dissatisfied with this change.
The choreography and lyrics employed by the carpenter have sparked significant debate, often drawing criticism due to some viewers finding them too suggestive or incompatible with her youthful audience.
In this multiplayer game, it’s recommended for those aged thirteen and above (rated T for Teen) because there are instances of relatively light combat during gameplay. Players can collaborate and engage in competitive battles, ultimately striving to become the sole survivor.
Now, the game will incorporate ‘dance moves’, allowing players to initiate a dance routine similar to that of The Carpenter. Other players can then join and synchronize their actions simply by standing near one another.
Numerous videos of Fortnite gamers synchronizing dance moves within the game to the rhythm of the two-time Grammy-winning artist’s popular track, Taste, have become widely popular online.
In the well-known game, it’s not just the carpenter making an appearance – celebrities like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish have already made their mark earlier on.
‘Crazy how many people support a sexual icon in a kids game,’ one social media user tweeted on X.

In the replies, I joined those who defended Carpenter by highlighting the inherently violent aspect of the game we were all engaged in.
One user suggested that children’s games shouldn’t contain sexual symbols, and another countered with a comment about violence in the same game for kids: “The first person believes games for kids should avoid sexual symbols, but the other pointed out that there is also violence in this game intended for young players.
It was noted that some other musicians, like those who appeared in the game, didn’t receive negative reactions due to their gender.
‘The Travis Scott skin is literally shirtless,’ another person wrote.
One user wrote: ‘wait does she do juno poses ingame?? bc that would be bad for kids.’
As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but notice some fellow enthusiasts voicing their concerns. They pointed out that certain dance moves of hers, which they found to be quite sensual, were missing from the game. They also reminded us that Fortnite carries a T rating, indicating it’s intended for teens, not all children.
One individual, known for promoting kindness, posted on Twitter, “She behaves abhorrently, even during a game intended for kids.
A different user mentioned: “I assumed her music wasn’t suitable for children, but now she has a character with an animated appearance in an animated game… interesting, I suppose.
