Sabrina Carpenter roasted over ‘pathetic’ sexual album cover for upcoming Man’s Best Friend release

On Wednesday, I excitedly shared the news about Sabrina Carpenter‘s upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend. However, the cover art for this highly-anticipated release has ignited strong backlash among her fanbase.

Over the course of an Instagram Live session, the 26-year-old pop artist showcased a video in which she perused a pile of vinyl albums from artists like Donna Summer, ABBA, and Dolly Parton. Eventually, she paused at one album, unveiling her own recording titled “Man’s Best Friend.

The sneak peek revealed the album cover image, depicting Carpenter crouched down, with someone in black pants (whose face isn’t shown) tugging on her blond hair.

She also posted a close-up image of a heart-shaped dog collar engraved with Man’s Best Friend.

The highly sexualized and provocative album art quickly drew backlash.

‘Pathetic. Wtf is she thinking,’ one critic wrote, while another commented, ‘Dumpster humanity.’

A third person commented, “I think she’s aiming for rebelliousness, but it’s quite the opposite in today’s context.” They then summed up by saying, “She appears foolish.

Yet another said, ‘Cringe.’

Naturally, some fans were thrilled by the album cover and the new music announcement.

As a passionate follower of music, I can’t help but express my excitement for Sabrina’s upcoming awards! She’s a strong contender for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Pop Vocal Album, and every category she’s nominated in. I can’t wait to see her shine!

Another added, ‘Man’s Best Friend is saving my life and it’s not even out yet.’

Last week, Carpenter dropped the lead single from the upcoming album, titled Manchild.

The piece was jointly created with Jack Antonoff, a frequent collaborator who’s also renowned for his many projects with Taylor Swift.

The track quickly climbed to the top spot on both the Spotify U.S. and Global charts.

Approximately a year after her latest number-one record, “Short n’ Sweet,” she plans to launch her seventh studio album titled “Man’s Best Friend.

Notably, all three tracks – Espresso, Please Please Please, and Taste – from Short n’ Sweet managed to secure a place in Spotify’s exclusive Billion Streams Club.

globally, the album was purchased 10 million times, which led to six Grammy nominations for Carpenter, marking his initial nomination.

She won two awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for Espresso.

Last week, when Sabrina unveiled her new project, “Manchild,” it felt like she took a subtle jab at my former partner, Barry Keoghan.

She cryptically captioned the announcement with, ‘This one’s about you!!’

Starting from December 2023, Sabrina and Barry were a couple in secret. They made their relationship official by attending the Met Gala together in May 2024.

It’s been reported that they were on-and-off throughout the year, with speculation about their separation arising in December, but then in August, it was also claimed that they had reconciled.

Barry was hit by claims he cheated on the hitmaker.

Yet, according to a source, the actor is deeply committed to ensuring her happiness, yet they find themselves at distinct stages in their lives.

The source added some insight, stating that her touring schedule and frequent absences have made it difficult for them to maintain their relationship, as their timetables often clash.

‘All the time spent apart it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding.’

A confidential source revealed to the media outlet that the split occurred within the past month due to their hectic work commitments.

It was observed that the ‘friendly’ duo didn’t have any lingering resentment, and their separation wasn’t marked by disputes.

Previously, when Rolling Stone inquired about whether she calls Barry her boyfriend, she responded evasively with: ‘I find a way to avoid directly answering that question.’

When you come across individuals who genuinely resonate with you and possess extraordinary charm and brilliance, it’s only natural to be drawn to them. Since my songs often reflect my feelings, it’s understandable that people might be curious about the person or subject behind these compositions.

She concluded: ‘That’s something that comes with the territory.’
