Sabrina Carpenter Reveals Biggest Heartbreak Inspired Song

Sabrina Carpenter disclosed that the inspiration behind her popular song “Emails I Can’t Send” stemmed from her most significant heartache experienced up until then.

In July 2022, the popular pop artist who is 25 years old launched an album that received critical acclaim, and Sabrina has since confessed that this album was motivated by a heartrending breakup she experienced.

The stunning brunette shared with Vogue magazine: ‘It was actually my initial experience where I had a significant role in guiding and controlling everything.’

As a die-hard admirer, I’d put it this way: Ever since my past relationships with Joshua Bassett, Shawn Mendes, and Barry Keoghan, I’ve grown so much. Now, I’m thrilled to share that my latest record is my ‘first true adult album.’ It truly represents the woman I’ve become.

Since the song was released in 2022, it couldn’t possibly be about Barry, as their relationship didn’t begin until a later date.

From the years 2014 to 2015, she was in a relationship with Bradley Steven Perry. In the year 2020, she had a romantic involvement with singer Joshua Bassett, and in 2023, she was dating Shawn Mendes.

She did not start dating Barry until 2023; they split in late 2024.

Looking back at the love story that fueled my latest work, I can’t help but recall: ‘The most profound heartache I’ve experienced so far – truly my first deep and meaningful one.’

As a devoted admirer, I must confess, it’s hard for me to express this, but the truth is, whoever followed my current partner, they’re simply incomparable to those who came before. I assure you, it’s not my intention to belittle my past relationships.

I seem to grasp the sensation of deeply empathizing with someone who is grieving, alive or dead. This is something I had never experienced before in my life, until now.

Meanwhile, Sabrina previously insisted that ‘there’s more’ to her than just hit songs.

The widely successful pop artist feels that her true character is often underestimated, revealing to Paper magazine, “I have layers beyond the chart-leading tunes I produce.

She mentioned, “On certain days, there’s someone underneath who exudes great confidence, but on other days, they struggle so much they find it hard to even get up from bed.

It’s crucial for individuals to grasp this point, irrespective of their sources of information, as everyone is an individual.

In addition, Sabrina admitted to experiencing nervousness prior to the launch of Short n’ Sweet, her 2024 album which included popular tracks like Espresso and Please Please Please.

In a candid confession, it was revealed that Sabrina, known for her role in the Disney series Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017, expressed fear about disclosing anything.

Additionally, she shared with Vogue magazine, “Short n’ Sweet truly reflects my personality. I don’t have an alternate persona, but it certainly amplifies who I am.

This outfit is intriguing as it gives off an air reminiscent of the ’60s, yet when interacting with the audience, I’m simply being myself.

Sabrina views ‘Short n’ Sweet’ as a progression or advancement from her 2022 album, ‘Emails I Can’t Send’, which garnered favorable feedback from music critics.

Yet, the artist believes that her existing musical style and lyrical content offer a truer reflection of her personality and emotions towards life.

Sabrina shared: “I began choosing outfits that truly represented who I am. Over time, this transition seemed to seep into my songwriting, making the compositions increasingly reflective of my character.

The pop star has admitted to being inspired by ‘strong and hyperfeminine’ figures from the past.

In my experience, I’ve often found myself drawn to visual representations of women who exuded a powerful, hyper-feminine energy. I would think to myself, “If only she could express her true thoughts and feelings.” As a lifestyle expert, I believe it’s crucial for us all to strive for authenticity in our expressions, especially women, as we navigate through the complexities of life.
