S.W.A.T. Spinoff Announced Following Series Finale, Title & Returning Character Revealed
Previously saved from cancellation numerous times, the show S.W.A.T. finally concluded its run on CBS when it aired its final episode on May 16th. But, hold on to your excitement, fans, as character Hondo is not leaving us just yet; he’s set to reappear in his own spinoff series.
According to recent announcements, Sony Pictures Television is currently working on a new spinoff series of S.W.A.T., titled S.W.A.T. Exiles. In this show, Shemar Moore will reprise his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. Jason Ling from Lucifer is taking charge as showrunner for the new series. Along with Moore, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and James Scura are also serving as executive producers. The spinoff consists of 10 episodes and will be marketed to find suitable networks and partners to ensure that these new stories reach the dedicated S.W.A.T. fanbase and attract new viewers.
As a fan, I find myself drawn to the captivating tagline: “Following an unexpected twist in a high-stakes mission, I’m coaxed out of retirement against my will to spearhead an experimental S.W.A.T. team. This motley crew consists of green recruits with unpredictable tendencies. My task is to bridge the gap between generations, manage contrasting egos, and mold a group of misfits into a unit that can safeguard our city and preserve the program that shaped my identity.
