Rylan Clark admits he felt like a ‘complete failure’ after his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal
Rylan Clark confessed with emotion that he experienced feelings of failure after his separation from his former spouse, Dan Neal.
In 2021, the television host, who was then 36, parted ways with Dan following a six-year marriage, after it was revealed that Rylan had been unfaithful to him.
This year, marking what should have been their ten-year wedding anniversary, Rylan opened up about his emotions following the divorce.
In an episode of his latest podcast, Rylan: How to Be in Love with Stephen Fry, he mentioned that they tied the knot in 2015.
‘That same year, yeah. So it would have been my 10 year anniversary this year.’

Afterward, Stephen inquired whether Rylan sensed any degree of accountability to portray same-sex marriages, given his status as one of the notable LGBTQ+ personalities.
In simpler terms, he wanted to know if, upon your divorce, you felt like you were in some way disappointing or undermining the concept of same-sex marriage, since we have an obligation to demonstrate that such unions can be just as enduring and solid as those between heterosexuals.
Rylan expressed feeling utterly defeated and disappointed with himself, not just privately, but also publicly. He mentioned that he failed personally, yet he felt responsible for the LGBTQ+ community. However, he clarified that he doesn’t consider himself to be a representative figure or ‘the face’ of the gay community.
Stephen reassured: ‘No, you’re not, exactly. You’re not a poster child for gayness.’
Rylan added: “Indeed, it seems I am destined for marriage, eager for marriage, capable of marriage.
However, if things don’t go as planned, you wouldn’t want others to remark, “Ah, that’s exactly why they should have never gotten married.
Stephen promptly expressed his viewpoint: “Go ahead and remarry if you feel like it…” This statement led Rylan to suggestively bring up his past divorce issues when he jokingly added: “Absolutely, but this time we’ll make sure there’s a prenuptial agreement. I don’t want to go through that ordeal again.
Earlier, Rylan openly admitted that his unfaithfulness during his marriage with Dan was what ultimately led to the collapse of their union.

Following his admission about his infidelity, Dan ultimately chose to end the relationship after a deeply painful revelation.
After experiencing a painful divorce and battling with suicidal feelings, Rylan’s weight plummeted to only 126 pounds (or approximately 9 stones).
In the sequel to his life story, titled “TEN: The Decade That Shaped My Destiny,” he candidly discussed the difficult period we’re currently experiencing.
In the book, he wrote an open and honest account, stating: ‘I found myself in a relationship at a young age and sort of rolled with it. Now I realize I am an individual independent from anyone else. I won’t accept anything less than what feels right. In a sense, it has turned out to be somewhat beneficial for me.’
I’m open to having sexual relations with someone, and it’s nothing to worry about. However, do I desire something more? Absolutely! Will I have a great time throughout this journey? You bet your life!
