Ryan Reynolds Surprises Green Day at Walk of Fame, Mockery Be Damned

Ryan Reynolds was a surprise guest at Green Day’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday.

48-year-old Deadpool’s popularity didn’t waver, despite some teasing about his exaggerated tan, as he attended the event alongside the renowned punk-rock group. He even took the stage to deliver a speech.

In the last few weeks, Reynolds and his spouse, Blake Lively, have been spotted together at a number of public events, even though they’re currently involved in an ongoing legal dispute with Justin Baldoni.

As I sauntered down the iconic Hollywood Boulevard, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of style-satisfaction, effortlessly blending casual and chic in my attire. The navy tapered trousers, tailored to perfection, paired beautifully with a sleek black collared sweater, its neat collar adding a touch of sophistication. To complete the ensemble, I opted for a pair of pristine white sneakers, ensuring comfort without compromising on style.

After adding some stylish dark shades to his outfit, he exuded an attractive aura, accompanied by a hint of rugged stubble on his face – it wasn’t long before the celebrity became a member of the ‘midlife crisis’ hair color club, showing off his freshly dyed brown hair earlier this month.

At the event, the long-time figure in the entertainment industry changed from wearing dark sunglasses to round glasses as he spoke.

Before starting his speech, he amused the audience by saying, “I’ll be using Billie Joe’s mother’s eyeglasses from now on.

In a light-hearted manner, Reynolds continued by saying, “Many of you are familiar with the fact that I serve as the contemporary representative of punk.

‘And I am deeply honored to be here today to talk about Green Day,’ he continued more seriously.

Then the star revealed, ‘My connection to this iconic band goes back to its earliest days.’

Using profanities, Ryan recounted a touching tale of listening to Green Day’s influential 1997 song “Good Riddance” in a café located in London during the filming of Deadpool in the year 2023.

After the melody started, he remarked, “I noticed that the people near this café seemed to subtly transform, and it gave off an atmosphere of unity – something rather hard to find these days.

‘Through music, performances, and movies, we can unite as one. We leave behind our disagreements and personal beliefs, connecting on a shared emotional level, experiencing feelings simultaneously, as one entity,’ the father of four elaborated.

Pointing at the band composed of Billie Joe, Tre Cool, Matt Pinfield, and Mike Dirnt, Ryan remarked, “It’s quite special to be able to present that to the global audience.

Green Day, described as residing at the crossroads of nostalgia and advancement, have recently concluded their main act performance at Coachella 2025.

Back in 2010, during an interview with Bill Maher, Armstrong admitted that their band’s name originated from the term “cannabis”.

He once mentioned that initially, we aimed to embody the comedic, rebellious spirit of Cheech & Chong within the realm of punk rock, and to this day, some of us continue to reflect that essence in many aspects.

In a 2001 VH1 special, the musician reminisced: ‘Once under the influence, I penned a tune about my emotions at the time, which I titled Green Day.’

During one occasion, the stars known for their roles in Deadpool and Wolverine shared a warm, friendly embrace. This moment was not missed by fans, who swiftly noticed Ryan’s heavily applied sunless tan during the event, leading to comments on photos posted by gossip site DeuxMoi.

One individual asked, “What’s the reason for Ryan looking so tanned?” while another described it as, “It seems like he has applied ten layers of spray tan on his neck.

As I observed, it seemed that he had already applied iodine prior to surgery. Another suggestion that caught my attention was a humorous plea for Ryan to reconsider his tanning methods.

Another reviewer likened the celebrity’s suntan to an episode of Friends where Ross Geller appeared unusually tanned.

Media figure Steph Withdeets suggested, ‘Perhaps he assumed, “Everyone adores Ross; he’s so hilarious, so if I mimic that humor, maybe they’ll like me once more.”‘

Blake and Ryan presented a resilient demeanor while venturing out jointly this past week, after another surprising revelation surfaced in their legal dispute with Justin Baldoni.

Last week, Marvel petitioned the court to dismiss their involvement in the lawsuit and to invalidate the subpoena related to the Nicepool character in the Deadpool & Wolverine series. This is a character that director Kevin Smith (Baldoni) had earlier accused Marvel of bullying over.

After Reynolds revealed his freshly colored tresses, replacing his gray strands, at the Time100 Gala held in New York City, I couldn’t help but notice the transformation.

He has joined the ranks of celebrities like Ben Affleck and George Clooney, who have recently opted for a new hairstyle, often associated with men going through a midlife transition.

Ryan started showing off his gray hair quite some time back, actually around 2016 when he was spotted in London sporting the look for almost a decade by then.

He supported his wife at the NYC premiere of her new movie Another Simple Favor last weekend. 

On the red carpet, the pair snuggled close to each other, with the actress being joined by her sister Lori, mother Willie Elain McAlpin, another sister Robyn, her husband Bart Johnson, and their child Isabela Ferrer.
