Ryan Reynolds reveals cameo from Wrexham’s Paul Mullin in Deadpool & Wolverine

As a die-hard fan of the Deadpool franchise, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Ryan Reynolds revealed that Wrexham footballer Paul Mullin made a cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. The connection between Reynolds and Mullin is not just limited to their professional lives; they share a common bond as co-owners of Wrexham Football Club.

Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers follow.

In an intriguing disclosure, Ryan Reynolds shared that Paul Mullin of Wrexham football team makes a brief appearance in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Back in 2020, Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney bought the football club. Since then, the team’s popularity has soared, bringing international recognition not only to the club but also to the town.

Since the Hollywood duo’s takeover, Mullin has emerged as an essential figure for Wrexham. He’s now been cast in Reynolds’ newest production, joining the Deadpool Corps as a team member.

On Monday (July 29), the actor posted multiple pictures on Instagram of him and Mullin working on the set. Notably, Mullin donned a morphsuit bearing the Welsh flag as an accessory.

“One member of the Deadpool Corps stood out for being unusually deadly, as mentioned by @paulmullin12 and @wrexham_afc in their posts.”

As a seasoned comic book fan with decades of reading under my belt, I can tell you that the Deadpool Corps comics have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Mullin might be the most famous surprise cameo in this series, but let me tell you, he’s not the only one.

In the movie, Emma Corrin’s character Cassandra Nova employs the Deadpool Corps as a distraction for Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). This allows her to access the TVA station unhindered, where she intends to wield the Time Ripper and erase all existing timelines.

I’m a huge fan of this group, and it’s fascinating how Lady Deadpool, portrayed by my favorite Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, who’s married to Ryan Reynolds, masterfully leads us. Despite keeping her mask on at all times, her distinctive voice is more than enough for fans to identify her.

A multitude of famous Deadpool versions, such as Headpool voiced by Nathan Fillion from “The Rookie,” and Cowboy Deadpool voiced by Matthew McConaughey, accompany her.

Inez and Olin, two of Reynolds and Lively’s kids, make brief appearances on screen as Kidpool (aged seven) and Babypool (aged one).

In this production’s recurring roster, Morena Baccarin portrays Wade Wilson’s love interest Vanessa, while Stefan Kapičić takes on the role of Colossus. The X-Force squad members Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), and Peter (Rob Delaney) join them once more.

Last week on July 25, the third installment of the Deadpool franchise debuted in cinemas. Since then, it has earned an impressive $211 million at the US box office. Globally, the film is reported to have made around $444.1 million.

As an avid moviegoer, I’m thrilled to share that this latest release has secured the sixth largest opening of all time for me. It also holds the record for the highest July opening weekend that I’ve ever witnessed. Moreover, since the breathtaking Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, this is now the biggest opening I’ve experienced once again.

Deadpool & Wolverine is playing in cinemas now.
