Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Nice Guy’ Image Shattered by Shocking Lawsuit Claims from Justin Baldoni
Renowned for his witty self-mockery, frequently teasing his wife online, the surprising acquisition of a floundering Welsh soccer team, and currently thriving in his role as the rogue character Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds is considered an unreachable star in Hollywood.
In everyday language, one might say: With a family background, a thriving acting career, business ventures, and a well-known friendship with Taylor Swift, it’s been hard to find anything that could dim the Vancouver-born celebrity’s shine, who is often known as the “friendliest man in Hollywood”.
However, last week, the actor discovered himself entangled in the escalating legal dispute over “It Ends With Us” when he and his wife, Blake Lively, were both sued for defamation by director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
Justin, who is 40 years old, and his representatives assert that the actress, aged 37, devised a plan to sabotage their careers and tarnish their reputations by fabricating allegations of sexual harassment – following her lawsuit against the actor over the holiday season, in which she claimed he had sexually harassed her and fostered a hostile work environment during the film’s production.
Since then, he has filed a response-lawsuit, drawing attention not only to the accusations against Lively but also making some shocking allegations about her husband. Specifically, Justin claims that Reynolds used profanity, verbally attacked him in an angry outburst, and attempted to manipulate the movie script.
The legal documents allege that the prominent pair, jointly, manipulated their celebrity status to take control of the film adaptation of It Ends With Us. Additionally, Baldoni alleges that Reynolds contacted his talent agency, proposing they terminate their professional relationship with the director due to accusations of being a ‘sexual predator’.
In reaction to the court filing, Lively’s legal representatives vigorously countered that Baldoni and his studio Wayfarer Studies were employing strategies from the “abuser playbook” in their $400 million lawsuit.
They’re attempting to change the conversation towards Miss Lively, allegedly by spreading untruths about her taking creative control and isolating the cast from Mr. Baldoni. However, evidence will reveal that both the cast and others had their own unfavorable encounters with Mr. Baldoni and Wayfarer.
Although Reynolds wasn’t explicitly named in the response, it was strongly suggested that he had no involvement in taking creative control, as the denial was quite clear.
Reports indicate that Baldoni’s group is planning to unveil a website as an additional evidence for his allegations against Lively, suggesting that the ongoing dispute might persist for some time.
With Reynolds being closely associated with him, it’s likely he’ll strive to prevent any more allegations that might harm his reputation as the shining star of Hollywood.
Ryan ‘swore’ at Justin over ‘false’ fat-shaming claims
In an open discussion, the actress who played Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl shared that she experienced body shaming by Justin, prior to a scene where he was supposed to lift her. Before they started filming, Justin inquired about her weight.
However, Justin denies the accusations of fat-shaming, asserting they are completely and unquestionably untrue.
To put it in my own words as a dedicated follower, Justin claims that during our conversation, Ryan, Blake’s husband, was extremely upset and exclaimed at me something along the lines of: “How dare you even inquire about my wife’s weight? What gives you the right?” or “What’s wrong with you for asking such a thing about my wife’s weight?
In his suit, Justin contends that during the early stages of production, Lively and Reynolds made unfounded claims of fat-shaming against Baldoni; a charge, it will be proven, was entirely baseless.
‘Baldoni was called to the penthouse by Lively and met Reynolds, who angrily cursed at Baldoni and accused him of making comments about Lively’s weight (‘How dare you ask about my wife’s weight? What gives you the right?”).’
In the heated exchange between Reynolds and Lively, Baldoni found himself in a situation where he felt compelled to apologize multiple times, even though his query to his trainer was genuinely sincere and justifiable.
Justin ‘berated’ by Ryan in ‘aggressive tirade’
In response to the deteriorating atmosphere that became increasingly unhealthy, Blake decided it was best to depart temporarily, and she composed a list detailing necessary conditions for her eventual re-entry.
In the context of her “Back to Work Requirements”, there was a gathering arranged at their high-rise apartment in New York City. Alongside her, Blake had chosen to bring Ryan to represent her.
Justin asserts that Ryan launched into a forceful, critical speech when they both recited the complaints the actress had written down.
The Director was severely scolded or criticized harshly by the Deadpool Actor, an experience which the Jane The Virgin Star called “distressing.
As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: “Caught my colleagues off guard when Johnny and Rebecca unveiled a questionable list of complaints, which, as I was quick to notice, seemed more like a work of fiction than actual issues.
In my professional perspective, I found myself on the receiving end of an intense verbal assault from Reynolds, which left me deeply affected – a conversation I can honestly say was unlike anything I’ve experienced before.
Ryan ‘tried to get ‘sexual predator’ Justin dropped from talent agency’
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share an intriguing piece of information that surfaced recently. I’ve learned through reliable sources that there might have been contact between Ryan and his talent agency – this is only an allegation at this point.
As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing that I, myself, have learned Justin asserted he directly communicated his strong feelings of dissatisfaction towards a film director to a representative at the William Morris Endeavor (WME) agency, who happens to be an executive.
According to reports, Ryan is said to have proposed that the agency terminate their relationship with Justin because, in his own terms, Justin was involved in predatory sexual behavior.
The lawsuit states: ‘Later on, Baldoni learned that during the premiere of his film Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds spoke negatively about Baldoni to Baldoni’s agency, specifically an executive at WME. Reynolds accused Baldoni of being associated with a ‘sexual predator’, a term that interestingly enough was used against him later in media reports. At a later time, Reynolds asked the agent to stop representing Baldoni.’
Film staff replaced with Deadpool team
I, as a devoted follower, am sharing information about an allegation made by Justin. He claims that Blake forced out the editors and composers she had initially hired and replaced them with individuals of her preference – specifically, professionals who had recently collaborated with Ryan.
Essentially, the lawsuit states that Lively made a change by choosing a different editor for the film, who was frequently used by Reynolds. Consequently, the original editors were dismissed from their roles.
Additionally, she decided to switch out the Film’s prestigious composer for composers who had worked on Reynolds’ latest venture, despite the fact that the original composer had already completed the score using an orchestra (a costly endeavor).
The composers responsible for It Ends With Us at the moment are Rob Simonsen, who was involved in the successful 2024 summer blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine by Reynolds, and Duncan Blickenstaff.
Hours-long meeting with ‘dragons’ Ryan and ‘Taylor Swift’
In the court case he’s filed, Justin alleges that Blake once resubmitted a revised portrayal of a rooftop encounter involving their characters.
He maintains that his opposition was just ‘exceptionally gentle’ towards her proposed alterations, yet Blake appeared to be ‘apparently offended’ by his reaction and turned to her spouse Ryan, as well as a highly famous acquaintance, to exert pressure and achieve her desired outcome.
Following the announcement of the court documents, it was commonly believed that the well-known figure was most likely Taylor Swift, Blake’s close friend.
In the lawsuit’s account, it is stated that there was a gathering where ‘Lively invited Baldoni to her high-rise apartment in New York City. Upon arrival, Baldoni encountered Ryan Reynolds who offered heartfelt compliments for Lively’s portrayal of the scene.
Later in the day, as our gathering concluded, a well-known friend of Reynolds and Lively – someone I hold in high regard – entered the room. Much like everyone else present, they expressed admiration for Lively’s script. At that moment, it became clear to me that aligning with Lively’s vision for the script was necessary. According to the legal documents, this understanding was further emphasized.
When Justin sent a message to Blake saying he had liked her pages, didn’t need any help from Reynolds or her celebrity friends, and hadn’t been influenced by them, it’s said that he got a response back where Blake called Ryan and Taylor her “protectors” or “guardians,” using the term “dragons.
Secret re-writing of the script
In a lengthy gathering with Ryan and Taylor, it’s claimed that Blake mentioned she revised the specific scene in question.
However, approximately a year following the initial exchange, during the New York City premiere, it was Blake who disclosed that Ryan was actually the one who made the alterations.
Blake boasted about the fact that her spouse contributed to penning the famous rooftop scene, something the scriptwriter himself was unaware of.
Blake confided, “It was my husband who truly penned it. That secret is now shared between us. In our partnership, we assist one another in all aspects of our work. He contributes to every project I undertake, and I contribute to every project he takes on. Therefore, his triumphs and celebrations are a reflection of my own, just as mine are his.
To tell you the truth, I was taken aback when I heard that Ryan supposedly had a hand in the script for this movie we both love. Frankly, as a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but wonder if Christy Hall, our brilliant screenwriter, might have been mistaken. You see, it wasn’t clear to me where his input came from, and I simply had to know more!
Justin pointed out the surprising disclosure mentioned in his lawsuit, stating: ‘This unexpected exposure goes against Lively’s prior claims of penning the scene herself—certainly altering Reynolds’ earlier compliments for the revised scene.’
The screenwriter of the movie, when questioned about the allegation that Reynolds had penned the scene, politely replied, “If it’s true that Ryan wrote it, then excellent, fantastic news!” She later admitted, “There were a couple of minor details I didn’t write… and if those intricate parts originated from Ryan, I think that’s terrific.
For the first time, it became known to the Plaintiffs that Reynolds, having no official part in the movie’s creation, secretly altered the script without authorization. Similarly taken aback by this revelation, which he uncovered live during an interview with Access Hollywood, Baldoni responded by commending Reynolds. This was done to avoid causing harm to Lively, Reynolds (who reportedly penned the scene and potentially others during the WGA strike), or the Film.
Blake ‘copying Ryan’s forcing out of Deadpool director’
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel the sting when I recall the whirlwind success of the initial Deadpool movie. Yet, a cloud of uncertainty loomed over us all when the film’s visionary director, Tim Miller, chose to step away from the sequel, leaving us eager fans yearning for more.
Initially, Tim hadn’t formally agreed to direct the sequel, but it was anticipated he would do so once the script’s development phase ended. However, a creative disagreement with Ryan led to Tim withdrawing from the project entirely, as later reports indicated.
Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, found the exit noteworthy as he prepared to file a lawsuit, and on January 7th, he warned Blake and Ryan to keep all pertinent documents and information related to the departure from the team, in anticipation of potential legal action concerning their departure from the franchise.
In the legal dispute, Justin alleges that Blake is attempting to mimic Ryan’s strategies with the aim of gaining influence and dominance – a move he labels as overly entitled for both parties.
It’s possible that Lively felt pressured due to her husband Ryan Reynolds, who is known for demanding significant control in the movie “Deadpool 2”, to such an extent that the original director, Tim Miller, departed from the project.
Given the renown and achievement Reynolds enjoyed, it’s possible that she borrowed his frequently used blueprint extensively in an attempt to claim her own authority and dominion.
As a devoted follower, I’ve observed that Lively and Reynolds are deeply involved in each project they undertake together. This is evident from numerous statements made by Lively suggesting their mutual involvement. Given their accustomed success, they might feel empowered to take on roles where they have significant influence.
Ryan and Blake demand public apology
Under a barrage of unfavorable news reports, it is said that Blake and Ryan requested Justin to publish a pre-written apology statement, which was intended to divert attention away from Blake’s own negative publicity.
Reynolds and Lively wrote a declaration and pressured Baldoni, Wayfarer, and Heath to release this statement, which included an apology to the public and a resignation, even though they were innocent of any wrongdoing. The threat was that if they did not comply, legal action would follow. This is what the lawsuit claims.
It is said that they reportedly put forth their request through their talent agency, William Morris Endeavor, who had previously represented Justin. However, following Blake’s initial sexual harassment accusation against him, Justin was unexpectedly let go from the agency.
In a statement from his lawsuit, Baldoni claims that top WME executives have admitted that Lively and Reynolds’ threats were indeed serious matters. However, if Lively and Reynolds were to claim general errors or ambiguities, it would essentially mean they had committed career-ending misconduct, according to the lawsuit.
‘Baldoni, Wayfarer, and Heath resolutely declined to express regret for actions they were not responsible for. Aware of the fact that Lively and Reynolds would unleash their star power in retaliation, they held their ground. True to form, this is exactly what transpired.’
