Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman Rumored for Roles in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

The cast of Avengers: Doomsday is truly enormous, featuring a huge number of famous actors from comic book films. The movie centers around Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and brings together iconic heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as beloved characters from older Marvel movies, to prevent a catastrophic collapse of the multiverse. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously helmed four of the most successful Avengers films, this sequel is expected to dramatically reshape the franchise, potentially paving the way for a complete reboot with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

The upcoming movie, Doomsday, already has over 30 confirmed actors, and we can expect even more surprise cast members when it releases later this year. Many of these actors are well-known for playing mutants in the X-Men films from 20th Century Fox, finally bringing together a team fans have wished for for years. According to sources, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as Wolverine and Deadpool. While the film prepares for additional shooting, it’s been reported that they’ll film at least one scene together, though the extent of their roles remains unknown. If confirmed, this would be their second appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following their debut in the highly successful R-rated film Deadpool and Wolverine, which premiered in 2024.

Despite denials from both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, rumors continue to circulate about their involvement in Doomsday. One persistent rumor suggests the film might open with a scene where their universes are destroyed, but specific plot details remain secret until more official information is revealed.

Adding them to the cast would fit well, since they could join the existing X-Men team in Doomsday. Wolverine has strong connections – though sometimes complicated – with characters like Professor X and Cyclops, and he and Wolverine are among the few who understand just how vast the multiverse is.
