Ryan Reynolds breaks silence on Oscars 2025 host speculation after being accused of ‘not being funny’

Ryan Reynolds expressed interest and excitement about the speculation of him teaming up with his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman for an Oscar co-hosting gig next year.

48-year-old Canadian heartthrob expressed his genuine excitement for potentially collaborating with Hugh at the Oscars, which he enthusiastically mentioned during an interview with Deadline on Thursday.

‘So, one day I’d love to do that, I don’t know about this year, but one day, yeah,’ he added.

The celebrity made clear that spending time with his four kids is his top priority, which leaves minimal opportunity for the role in the Oscars event in March.

The actor, parent to James (9), Inez (7), Betty (4), and one-year-old Olin with Blake Lively, expressed that these movies such as Deadpool and Wolverine take up a significant part of his life, but he also values being present for his four children.

I’d like to join them, they’d like me to as well, and I hope we can all enter school together. I also want to be in their presence.

Moreover, handling the stress of live television wasn’t a task he could take lightly. He confessed that it would keep him mentally occupied, with thoughts constantly swirling about potential mishaps and unfavorable outcomes.

It seems not everyone thinks Ryan is Oscar host material. 

Martha Stewart, notably, asserted that he lacks humor, despite the program’s common emphasis on swift wit and a keen sense of comedy.

Martha shared her thoughts during her appearance as a featured guest on Bilt Rewards’ November edition of their Rent-Free game show, when she was inquired about the most enjoyable celebrities to socialize with.

She shared, “Were you curious about him? In reality, he’s not as humorous as people might think. Not at all. He’s quite serious.

When Ankur showed astonishment, Martha explained, “He’s a skilled actor. He can play comical roles, but he himself isn’t actually humorous.

‘I’m going to get in trouble,” Martha laughed, noting, ‘He’s my neighbor.’

After the TV host’s remarks went viral, Ryan humorously fired back.

He expressed a different view from hers, as he had attempted it before. Surprisingly, the woman moved quickly. After a while, she managed to close the distance between them after running a mile.

In 2009, when he hosted the 81st Academy Awards, Hugh Jackman seemed perfectly suited for the role.

He’s also hosted the Tony Awards four times and won one in 2004 for his role in The Boy from Oz.
