Ryan Libbey gets emotional as he reveals he felt resentment towards his fiancée Louise Thompson after the birth of their son Leo
Ryan Libbey admits that he unknowingly harbored feelings of resentment toward his partner, Louise Thompson, following the birth of their son, Leo.
Louise, aged 35, came close to death in the year 2021 when she gave birth to Leo-Hunter. This occurred during an emergency cesarean section where she lost approximately 12.5 liters of blood.
After her close brush with death, she endured PTSD and postpartum anxiety. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with Lupus, Asherman’s syndrome, experienced another hemorrhage, and underwent the installation of a stoma bag.
In a recent conversation on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast hosted by Giovanna Fletcher, Ryan (aged 34), opened up about the impact and aftermath of a particular event.
Giovanna expressed, “Louise didn’t turn out to be the mother you expected due to all the challenges she faced.

Ryan shared: Around the tenth or eleventh month, his family noticed he wasn’t quite himself. Unbeknownst to him, he had slipped into a state of depression.
My days were exhaustingly long, leaving me barely able to survive. At home, Louise was quite busy dealing with her health issues.
Or
My days stretched on endlessly and I found myself existing rather than living. While at home, Louise had a lot going on regarding her health.
Or
The days were stretching long, and I was barely managing to get by. At home, there was constant activity related to Louise’s health.

We frequently brought in a crisis management team, as she was so detached mentally that we might say it functioned like a suicide prevention team.
I had trouble understanding it. She conceded defeat. I couldn’t fathom that we were in a desperate predicament, as she seemed indifferent towards the baby around us.)
I was overwhelmed and powerless to change the predicament, so I decided it was best for me to step away as I was brimming with bitterness about the entire ordeal.
‘Then, I hailed a taxi, rushed off to the airport, selected a flight on a whim. Turned out I didn’t accomplish what I intended, so I booked another flight to Barcelona and finally, enjoyed walking along the sandy beaches.’
It was then that I chose to connect and seek therapeutic help for the initial time. No healthcare professionals ever intervened before suggesting that I might require such assistance.
It didn’t sit well with me, and I couldn’t help but wonder if I may have acted too timidly in that situation.

Following Ryan’s confession that he finds it challenging to adapt as a contemporary father figure, given that he earns less than his partner, Louise, is where the situation stands.
Additionally, the former star of Made in Chelsea shared his concerns about potentially transitioning into a full-time at-home parent as his job opportunities diminish.
As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but tune in to the recent installment of their popular podcast, He Said, She Said. Guess who made an appearance? None other than the ex-TV sensation and fitness guru, who also happens to be my personal inspiration in both acting and physical wellness! And boy, did he have some thoughts to share!
He clarified that he was in a difficult place, struggling to appreciate himself or his current situation. On some days, he feels as though he’s not managing things well. It’s not advancing or improving the way he desires it to be.
‘It’s been a very quiet start to 2025 on the work front for Ryan – and it’s panicked me.’
Ryan, a resident of London along with his partner Louise and their child Leo, expressed some difficulties in deciding on suitable career paths.

He currently describes himself as a digital marketer and podcaster who ‘works with brands’.
To Louise he said, “I appreciate your role as the primary earner, and I find it amazing. I fully support this setup. However, if there’s room for me to be more laid-back about it, given my contemporary perspective on fatherhood, that seems to be where I fit best.
Over the last several weeks, there have been days when I feel like giving up and becoming a full-time homemaker instead. I could handle the cooking, grocery shopping, and even pretend to be good at DIY projects, spending my time hammering away at various tasks.
‘Since Louise earns more than me, is exceptionally skilled in business management, and given her expertise, it seems sensible for her to handle those aspects while I focus on the other tasks.’
‘But then I think, I’ve got lots to offer as well. I just need to figure out how to press go.’
