Is Ryan Gosling potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and could he finally land the role he’s always wanted?

I was so excited to hear Ryan Gosling talk about the possibility of him playing Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast! Apparently, there’s been talk since 2025 about him potentially appearing in Avengers: Doomsday as the character. When Josh Horowitz asked if he’d even spoken to Kevin Feige about it, Ryan was careful with his answer, saying they have had some discussions, but that it’s a pretty complex situation. Honestly, just knowing they’re talking about it is enough to get me hyped!

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m still trying to piece together exactly who’s going to be in Avengers: Doomsday! Marvel did a big reveal during that fun chair livestream in 2025, but it’s important to remember they’re doing reshoots later. That means there’s still a chance we’ll get some surprise appearances from actors and characters they haven’t announced yet – which is incredibly exciting!

Rumors that Ryan Gosling might play Ghost Rider could be a carefully hidden surprise for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. This would explain why he’s being vague when asked about it. The “complicated” situation he mentioned likely refers to his obligation to keep the potential role a secret.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Ghost Rider in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie or show – the last appearance was Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes in the Agents of SHIELD television series. Bringing him back would establish a version of the character within the MCU timeline and officially link the Agents of SHIELD show to the broader Marvel franchise.
