Ryan Coogler’s The X-Files Reboot Adds Weapons Star Amy Madigan, Steve Buscemi & 7 Others

I’m really excited to hear that Hulu’s bringing back that show and they’re building a fantastic cast! Even better, Ryan Coogler – the guy behind Black Panther and Sinners – is writing and directing the first episode. That instantly makes it a must-watch for me.

I’m really excited about the new version of the show! They’ve cast Himesh Patel as one of the leads, which is fantastic. It’s a little sad that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny aren’t involved this time around, but the producers have just announced a bunch of really well-known actors are joining the cast, and that’s making me even more hopeful for how it will turn out.

Who Stars in The X-Files Reboot?

The cast includes Academy Award winner Amy Madigan (known for Weapons), along with Steve Buscemi and Ben Foster. Joining them are new additions Devery Jacobs, Lochlyn Munro, Tantoo Cardinal, Joel D. Montgrand, and Sofia Grace Clifton.

The new series centers around two FBI agents, played by Deadwyler and Patel. Both are highly accomplished, but have very different approaches to their work. They team up when they’re assigned to a forgotten FBI division that investigates strange and unexplainable events, forming an unexpected connection.

Chris Carter, who created the original X-Files, is an executive producer on the new version of the show, along with Ryan Coogler. Jennifer Yale is leading the show as showrunner and also an executive producer, and both Janina Deadwyler and Neal Patel are co-executive producers.

I was so thrilled to see everything that actress Madigan has accomplished! Last summer, she was amazing as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s horror film, Weapons, which was a huge success, earning $270 million globally and getting great reviews. And she actually won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for that role! She’s also won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for her work in Roe vs. Wade. I’ve seen her in so many other things too – she was fantastic in Fringe, Grey’s Anatomy, HBO’s The Laramie Project, Carnivale, and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. I’m really excited to see what she does next, especially in the upcoming Amblin/Netflix series, All the Sinners Bleed.

Steve Buscemi is known for his role as Nucky Thompson in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. More recently, he played the new principal at Nevermore Academy in Season 2 of the Netflix series Wednesday.
