Ryan Applies for Restraining Order Against Ex-Bride on Reality Show

On a recent court day at Campbelltown, groom from Married At First Sight, Ryan Donnelly, requested a Restraining Order (similar to Apprehended Violence Order or AVO) against his former TV-wedded spouse, Jacqui Burfoot. He alleged that she has been trying to wreck his life.

In the latest season of the popular Australian reality TV show, Donnelly (aged 36) and Burfoot (aged 29) were teamed up. However, they decided to part ways during a bitterly argumentative Final Vows event.

In a turn of events, their quarrels shifted from the TV screen to the courtroom as Burfoot obtained a temporary restraining order in Tasmania, restricting Donnelly from discussing her on social media platforms.

In response, Donnelly sought a restraining order for suspected domestic violence against Burfoot, which was heard at the Campbelltown Local Court in Sydney on Wednesday.

Previously known reality TV personality shared with journalists that he endured significant damage and was subjected to threatening communications following the malevolent and slanderous accusations made by Burfoot regarding him on social media.

Speaking outside the courthouse, he stated that someone had attempted to ruin his life and limit his professional opportunities, partnerships, and more through unfounded accusations. He emphasized that it’s important for people to recognize that men can also be victims in such situations. He further mentioned that at one point, he felt genuinely scared.

Donnelly sought a court injunction preventing his TV co-star from posting any information related to him or their mutual friends on social media platforms over the course of two years.

As a responsible lifestyle advisor, I’d emphasize that under no circumstances should one engage in actions such as assaulting, threatening, stalking, or intimidating another individual, nor causing damage to their belongings – this includes their beloved pets like Freya. Such behavior is unacceptable and can lead to serious consequences.

Should the AVO be enforced, she would not be allowed to get near him or attempt to communicate with Donnelly directly. The only exception would be if she communicates via her legal representative.

In Tasmania, where Burfoot resides alongside his MAFS partner Clint Rice and now-fiance, a court appearance was mandated for him on Wednesday. However, rather than attending personally, he opted to send an email expressing his disagreement with the proposed restraining order.

Judge Shane McAnulty expressed his reluctance to issue the order without the party present, urging both sides to prepare their arguments ahead of the court hearing scheduled for June 24.

Just outside the courthouse, Donnelly expressed a desire to advance in life while ensuring his own safety.

‘Justice should be served,’ he told reporters.

He expressed that he considered the events worthwhile and felt confident that he had a very solid argument for filing a defamation lawsuit against his co-star on screen.

The TV groom declined to discuss if he’d cease sharing content about Burfoot or leave social media altogether, emphasizing that Married at First Sight is a “show capable of bringing great change in people’s lives.

More to come.
