Ruth Langsford says she needed therapy after acrimonious split from ex Eamonn Holmes

Oh, it just breaks my heart to hear about Ruth! Apparently, she’s been going to therapy since everything went down with Eamonn. It was such a messy, public breakup, and I can only imagine how awful it must be for her. I just want her to be okay, honestly. It’s so sad to see them like this, and she deserves all the support she can get to deal with everything.

The Loose Women host shared that ending her 27-year relationship was a difficult process she explored extensively in therapy.

After his 14-year marriage ended in June of last year, Mr. Holmes moved out of the family home in Weybridge.

Holmes soon began a relationship with Katie Alexander, a relationship counselor 22 years younger than him.

Ruth Langsford, who previously hosted This Morning, says she’s feeling optimistic about the future after a difficult period following the separation.

Ruth Langsford recently shared with Woman & Home magazine that she began counseling when she and Eamonn Holmes briefly separated, and continues to attend sessions. She described it as a really helpful and effective way to cope with challenges, providing her with practical strategies for dealing with difficult situations.

My therapist has likely recognized us from television, but since she doesn’t personally know either of us, she remains neutral and non-judgmental. She simply listens and asks questions like, “Have you considered this?” or “What led you to feel that way?”

I have a strong sense of who I am, so this process has been reassuring and helped me understand my emotions. After my sister passed away, people suggested therapy, but I didn’t want someone simply telling me I was grieving – I still feel that way. Ending a long-term relationship is complicated and takes time to sort out. Therapy can help you heal and move forward without being stuck in the past.

Everyone was surprised when the well-known TV couple announced they were separating, revealing they’d been having problems for a while.

People close to Ms. Langsford report she was frustrated with having to care for Mr. Holmes after his back surgery.

In recent years, he’s faced several health challenges. After back surgery in 2022, he began using a walking frame or wheelchair to get around.

But it later emerged he had also met Ms Alexander several years before the split from his wife.

There’s no evidence to indicate that Eamonn Holmes was unfaithful to Ruth Langsford. The couple co-hosted ITV’s ‘This Morning’ for ten years before leaving the show in 2021.

Although they haven’t officially divorced, the couple is currently embroiled in a financial dispute. Reports suggest Ms Langsford is particularly distressed about having to sell their home.

Oh, it’s just awful what they’re doing to Phillip! Honestly, he’s saying HMRC has ‘ruined’ him, and it’s all because of this ridiculous fight they’re having. Apparently, they’re questioning whether he was a proper freelancer while he was hosting This Morning between 2011 and 2015, or if ITV was secretly treating him like a regular employee. It’s just so unfair – he’s a national treasure, and they’re picking him apart over this! I’m absolutely devastated for him.

He recently revealed he’s already repaid more than £1 million, but even after selling two properties, he still owes a substantial £250,000.

Ms Langsford said the situation had left her in a dark place and fearing for the future.

But following counselling she may be ready to find love again.

She expressed a newfound sense of hope, saying she now sees a brighter future. Previously, she felt overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty, constantly worrying about what lay ahead. But now, she’s overcome that fear, refusing to give up. She’s determined to persevere and survive, no matter what challenges come her way.

For a festive photoshoot at home, Ms. Langsford wore a glamorous, fitted red sequin dress. She also posed in a red tartan cape with heeled boots for another photo.

You know, people always ask me about dating again, and I always say, you never know what the future holds! I’m definitely open to the possibility of finding someone, and honestly, I haven’t ruled out marriage either. But right now, I’m not searching. I’ve actually discovered I really enjoy and thrive being independent. I’m comfortable and strong on my own, and that’s a great feeling. It’s not that I don’t want love, it’s just that I’ve realized I’m perfectly happy and capable building a fulfilling life as an individual.

It took me a while to understand that, and I’m not sure what the future holds, but I’m actually feeling really positive about it now. It’s not as frightening as I initially expected.
