After ending her 25-year marriage to David Peet, actress Ruth Jones has lowered the price of her house in Cardiff.
The house she lived in with her husband, 72-year-old TV executive David, was first listed for sale in September for £1,150,000.
It seems the actress is having trouble selling her house. The price of the five-bedroom Tudor home in Penylan has been lowered.
The house is currently listed for sale online at £1,099,950, which is nearly £50,000 lower than its original price.
Ruth, age 58, is well-known for her role as Nessa Jenkins in the popular BBC comedy series. She and her husband, David, separated a while ago, and they publicly announced their split earlier in the year.
James Corden, who wrote and starred in Gavin and Stacey alongside Ruth Jones, was often seen visiting her at her large country house, according to The Mirror.
According to a neighbor, the couple often went to the Jubarah restaurant for curry, and they even used their experiences there as inspiration for scenes in their work.
I always remember Ruth saying that her Edwardian house was truly her happy place – she’d often call it ‘my favourite place to be’. And she absolutely loved the kitchen! She always said the spaciousness of it was ‘the best bit’ of the whole house – it was where she felt most at home.
As a lifestyle observer, I’ve noticed it’s been nearly two years since anyone’s spotted the couple together at their rather grand, Tudor-style home. It definitely makes you wonder what’s been going on behind closed doors, doesn’t it?
The furniture has been cleared out and what was once a cosy home is now an empty shell.
The pair bought the five-bedroomed semi in 2001 for £325,000 so stand to make a profit of £825,000.
The couple had a shared vacation home on Scotland’s west coast and ran a well-known restaurant, Peet’s, in the village of Lochinver, where Jones sometimes assisted with the work.
After their separation, Stella has been living in London. Meanwhile, David has relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where he is with his partner, Jayne Charity Cook, who is 46 years old.
Welsh actress Jones was the stepmother to David’s three children from a previous relationship, and the couple were considered to have a very strong bond.
Rumors began circulating about a possible breakup when people noticed the creator of Gavin and Stacey wasn’t wearing her wedding ring anymore.

Ruth will play Shelly-Ann, a recently divorced environmental officer in her mid-fifties.
She befriended Clive, a 60-year-old retired teacher, after they met at a knee injury clinic.

It ran for three seasons, giving us a total of 22 episodes, and it was so popular they brought it back for two special episodes – one in 2019 and another just recently in 2024. It really left its mark on British TV!
Gavin & Stacey follows the love story of Gavin, from Essex, and Stacey, from Barry in Wales.
