Ruth Jones admits Gavin and Stacey Christmas special ‘might shock fans’ as she and James Corden discuss episode
As a long-time fan of Gavin and Stacey, I must admit that I’ve been eagerly awaiting this Christmas special with bated breath. The show has always been a source of comfort and laughter for me, much like a well-worn pair of slippers after a long day.
In simpler terms, Ruth Jones revealed that viewers of Gavin and Stacey could find the Christmas special unexpected, given her and James Corden’s conversation about the last episode ever made.
Devoted followers have been pondering over how the creators might conclude the series, as they shared some insights on Monday.

Although the storyline for this year’s Christmas episode is shrouded in secrecy, Ruth has disclosed that they will indeed be concluding the sitcom.
In her interview with The Big Issue, she mentioned that the ending may not meet viewers’ expectations and confirmed that there will be no return of the series.
James commented: ‘On Christmas Day, you’ll witness the conclusion of a 20-year romantic tale, one that I hope demonstrates, in no uncertain terms, that love can be intricate, chaotic, and universal.’
In another update, an actor from the popular show Gavin and Stacey has verified their participation in the much-awaited holiday special and subtly hinted at the climax of the final scene.
On the show, Steffan Rhodri, who is famously known as Dave ‘Coaches’ Gooch, shared a tiny hint regarding the concluding episode.
In conversation with Metro, he shared: “Dave, my character, is somewhat on the fringes, but the final scene, where we all came together, was intentionally heartwarming and quite moving.
He added that he can’t say anything else about the Christmas special, but he can confirm that he will be in it.
Steffan missed the 2019 Christmas special, meaning he hasn’t filmed for the show in 17 years.
He said: ‘I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was like putting on a pair of old trousers. It was really lovely to hang out with them again.’
Supporters often recognize Coach Dave by his memorable phrase regarding acceptable and unacceptable behaviors on the bus: “I’ll tolerate cigarettes and marijuana, solvents and amphetamines, but I won’t permit the use of crack cocaine.
However, it’s possible that they are unaware that Steffan modeled the character after his uncle, who happens to be a bus driver and shares a similar demeanor.
‘When he realised I’d based Dave on him he was quite chuffed,’ the actor said.
There are still several mysteries surrounding the last episode, such as the true events that transpired during the fishing trip involving Dave, Bryan, and Jason.
Cast members have been spotted on set filming scenes but have kept filming details a secret.
It seems that the team has been instructed to keep their scripts concealed and stay vigilant against any potential spoilers or leaks.
