Based on the story of Ruth in the Old Testament, this narrative begins with a woman named Naomi returning to Bethlehem after experiencing the loss of her husband and both of her sons.
Following the deaths of her sons, Naomi told her daughters-in-law to return to their families. However, Ruth, who had been married to Naomi’s son, Mahlon, decided to stay with her grieving mother-in-law and wouldn’t leave her side.
In Bethlehem, Ruth encountered Boaz and they decided to marry, even though another man was initially supposed to marry her. Fortunately, everything resolved itself, and Ruth ultimately married Boaz.
Regarding their collaboration with Netflix, Franklin previously stated (through Tudum): “Tyler and I have been close friends for more than 15 years. Therefore, when he asked me to work together on films that inspire and encourage people, I immediately agreed.”

This timeless story has resonated with me and countless others for many years, and I’m thrilled for audiences to finally see this film!
