Russian YouTuber created a Dota 2 vs Deadlock game with mixed perspectives
As a long-time fan of both Dota 2 and Meeponegeroi’s captivating content, I must say that the release of Deadlock Experemental has left me utterly thrilled. Having followed Meeponegeroi’s journey from his humble beginnings in the Russian gaming community to becoming a renowned modder, it’s truly awe-inspiring to witness his groundbreaking creations.
Dota 2 on one side, and Deadlock on the other side.
Meeponegeroi, a well-known Russian YouTube personality, frequently shares lively and engaging videos about Dota 2 tailored for Russian viewers. But lately, he’s been making headlines due to an exceptional project. He merged aspects of Dota 2 and Deadlock into a unique game—a combination not typically seen in the gaming world.
Deadlock Experemental: Dota 2 and Deadlock collide
Meeponegeroi unveiled a fresh title, titled “Deadlock Experimental“, through the Dota 2 Workshop. This platform is brimming with numerous customized versions of Dota 2 for players to delve into, but this specific game offers a unique twist.
As a fan, I can tell you that when you dive into this game, you’ll find yourself either joining the Dota 2 fray or the Deadlock ranks. In the Dota 2 scenario, you’ll adopt a third-person viewpoint and command the heroes of Dota 2. Conversely, if you’re on the Deadlock side, you’ll experience the game from a first-person perspective, controlling the characters in Deadlock.
In this unconventional contest, some find it novel and innovative, drawing much acclaim from the gaming community. Interestingly, it’s been noted that Meeponegeroi, who is also known for crafting a custom game pitting Dota 2 against League of Legends by merging half of the latter’s map onto the Dire side, is involved in its creation.
Will Valve pick up the idea?
Many gamers find the concept of diverse hero lineups intriguing. While Deadlock Experimental hasn’t seen rapid growth as of now, there’s a strong possibility that it could explode in popularity down the line, attracting a huge number of players.
Currently, there’s a buzz about whether Valve might seize the opportunity and develop something similar. History has shown us that such events repeat themselves.
In the year 2020, Valve introduced a game called Dota Underlords, which resembles 3D chess and includes characters from Dota 2. The inspiration for this game comes from the highly successful DOTA AUTO CHESS that was once an incredibly popular arcade game within Dota 2, attracting over 100,000 players at its peak. At one point, it became so popular that many people would log into Dota 2 primarily to play this chess-like game.
Apart from this, Riot Games took inspiration and developed a comparable chess-style game named Teamfight Tactics. Despite Dota Underlords fading away, Teamfight Tactics continues to thrive, boasting approximately 33 million active players each month.
In the realm of gaming, could it be possible that The Deadlock Experiment, with its unique effects, inspires similar creations from other developers? Might Valve be the pioneer to introduce a blended game? And if other publishers follow suit, wouldn’t it be an exhilarating era for the gaming community!
