The Australian singer, 55, has burst back onto the Aussie music scene with her electropop comeback single Regenerate.

The cover art for the latest track features Danielle, who wed Russell Crowe in 2003, adorned with cascading rhinestones that resemble tears and heavily lined eyes in dark charcoal.

Her latest single marks her return after a 14-year hiatus, hinting at an upcoming album that promises to narrate her profound personal journey following her high-profile divorce.

She shared with Daily Mail Australia on Monday that her latest composition serves as a call to action, encouraging people to break free from comfort zones and actively participate in shaping their personal journeys instead of merely observing them.

Danielle expressed that the anthem represents her taking bold steps to reactivate, restart, and step into the spotlight in her personal life.

She added that the single, which will be the first track on her forthcoming album, charts her journey from ‘going through the motions.’ 

In 2013, Russell, Danielle’s former spouse, confessed that he had been writing songs about their imminent divorce, which wasn’t officially finalized until 2018, years prior to the event.

In 2011, the actor from Gladiator acknowledged that their relationship was destined to fail, and several songs on his album “The Crowe/Doyle Songbook” were about Danielle. These tracks were specifically titled “Sadness of a Woman” and “Too Far Gone.

The two-time Golden Globe award-winner admitted that he even ‘tricked’ Danielle into singing on that album with him.

In a deceitful manner, he feigned as if there was another woman present, recording alongside him. However, the truth was, such a woman was nowhere to be found. His intention was to make Danielle envious, hoping she would agree to sing with him. And it seems his plan succeeded.

Meanwhile Danielle released her last solo album in 2010, two years prior to their separation.

‘At various stages in life, it can feel as though your batteries have run down,’ Danielle said.  

It’s necessary to renew oneself to progress further, and the moment seems ideal for sharing fresh tunes. I found myself with ideas I wished to express about this phase in my existence. Now, I feel prepared to make them public.

Danielle made her debut performance of her latest single “Regenerate” at the OzHarvest Unite to Feed Australia Live! charity event, and you can catch the broadcast on Channel Seven starting from 7:30 PM this coming Tuesday.

In the trailer for her upcoming music special, Danielle drew inspiration from iconic pop stars like Madonna and Kylie Minogue, donning a stunning, dramatic black dress with an accentuated waistline from a fitted corset bodice.

Danielle displayed the expansive reach of her operatic voice, lifting her hands in harmony with the growing beat of the drums and live music, pouring her feelings into the microphone through powerful singing.

The artist, both a vocalist and composer, expressed her aspiration to motivate other females, encouraging them to accept change and rekindle their inner power.

In 2003, Russell tied the knot with his acting and songwriting partner, Danielle. However, they parted ways in 2012, and their divorce was officially completed in 2018.

The duo, who parted ways 12 years ago, are parents to two young adults, Charles (age 21) and Tennyson (age 18). Despite the separation, they continue to maintain a strong bond.

In 1989, they crossed paths for the first time on the movie set of “The Crossing”. They tied the knot in April 2003, exchanging vows on an actor’s farm located in Nana Glen, New South Wales.

Danielle also shared a heartfelt message for her former spouse on his 59th birthday, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of their marriage in 2023.
