Russell Crowe reveals his racy ‘roleplaying’ sessions with ex-wife Danielle Spencer – and he wore one of his most famous movie costumes

Russell Crowe revealed that he and his ex-wife, Danielle Spencer, used to playfully act out scenes as one of his movie characters.

Sixty-one-year-old actor Russell Crowe revealed on Monday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show that he once dressed up as one of his movie characters for a romantic interest, surprising the radio hosts with the story.

Russell recalled a time during the filming of ‘Master and Commander’ in 2002, when he and Danielle weren’t yet married, but were getting closer to it. He started by saying, “It was 2002…”

It was so great to see him really shine playing a Naval commander from the 1800s! Apparently, my ex actually noticed how amazing he looked in costume, and it completely changed her impression of him – she even started calling him a really playful nickname after that. It was honestly adorable to hear about!

Russell shared that while they were filming, the actress came to the set and particularly liked the high-waisted trousers and the English Navy uniform.

‘To the point where every now and then she’d call me Captain!’

Reports surfaced in September that Russell and his former wife, Danielle, were reuniting – but for a performance, not a romantic relationship.

Russell Crowe’s Indoor Garden Party at the Enmore Theatre on December 20th will feature performances by both him and his ex-partner.

Danielle, age 56, shared that she and the other person first became close because they both enjoyed music. They even performed together when their sons were young.

Returning to that role for this performance has been a very emotional experience for the actress and singer.

Danielle shared with news.com.au that she and Russell first bonded over their shared love of music when they first met.

We’ve shared the stage many times throughout our careers, and it felt special to come back together like that.

Earlier this year, Russell revealed he is still in close contact with his ex-wife.

Russell recently appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show to talk about an upcoming one-night performance, and he revealed a surprising artist will be opening for him.

He told the radio hosts that his ex-wife, Danielle Spencer, will be the opening act for their show.

Kyle praised the 61-year-old for successfully maintaining a friendly relationship with his former spouse, whom he was married to from 2003 to 2018.

It’s great when an ex-partner can be present without causing problems for your current relationship, especially when there’s a child involved. Everyone just gets along,” he explained, describing the situation with his blended family.

It’s great to hear Russell’s doing well! What really gets him excited, though, is his kids’ reaction. He told me they absolutely love what he’s been up to, and they even told him ‘Dad, that’s excellent!’ – it’s just so heartwarming to see how proud they are of him.

Russell is a father to two sons: Charles, age 21, and Tennyson, 19. Their mother, Danielle, is a well-known singer with popular songs like ‘Wish I’d Been Here’ and ‘A Night Like This’.

The pair married in 2003, split in 2012 and their divorce was finalised in 2018.
