Russell Brand charged with new counts of rape and sexual assault in U.K.

Russell Brand, a British comedian known for his rebellious style who recently became a conservative voice, is now facing two more accusations of sexual offenses in the UK.

London’s Metropolitan Police announced on Tuesday that Russell Brand, the 50-year-old actor known for roles in “Get Him to the Greek” and “Rock of Ages,” now faces additional charges of rape and sexual assault. These new charges follow an investigation into claims made by two more women. A spokesperson for Brand has not yet responded to a request for comment.

In April, Russell Brand was accused of multiple sexual offenses dating back to 1999. He faces two counts of rape, one of indecent assault, and two of sexual assault, involving four different women. Prosecutors claim he raped a woman in Bournemouth in 1999, indecently assaulted another in 2001, and both orally raped and sexually assaulted a third woman in 2004. A fourth woman was allegedly sexually assaulted between 2004 and 2005. U.K. authorities say these incidents took place in Westminster.

Russell Brand continues to deny accusations of sexual assault made by four women between 1999 and 2005. He has entered a not-guilty plea to charges including rape and indecent assault.

In May, he denied the charges, reaffirming his previous statements made on social media.

In September 2023, allegations of sexual assault and rape against Russell Brand surfaced following a joint investigation by The Times of London and the Channel 4 program “Dispatches.” Several women came forward claiming Brand sexually assaulted them between 2006 and 2013. Later, a woman filed a lawsuit against him for sexual assault that occurred on the set of his 2011 film “Arthur.” The BBC also disclosed that they had received multiple complaints regarding Brand’s behavior while he worked as a radio host between 2006 and 2008.

Over the past ten years, Russell Brand’s popularity has declined, leading him to create content focused on religion and independent thought. He recently performed at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest 2025, where he joked about his ex-wife Katy Perry (they divorced in 2011). On Tuesday, Brand shared a video of himself driving and told his followers, “We are living through a difficult time.”

He described a period of turmoil and disagreement, but shared that he’s found personal growth can come from difficult experiences. He also expressed gratitude for the chance to make amends for past mistakes.

Russell Brand will be in court on January 20th to address the new allegations against him.

In a recent video, Brand referred to upcoming events as “trials” rather than “battles,” hinting at significant challenges ahead. This comes as he prepares for his June trial related to the initial five charges of sexual assault and rape.
