The remaining members of the legendary progressive rock band Rush plan to tour together again in 2026, celebrating their 50th year as a group.
Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, the founding members of Rush, are embarking on a 12-city tour to celebrate the life and incredible drumming of their late bandmate, Neil Peart. Peart’s extraordinary talent was key to Rush becoming one of the most important bands in progressive rock. The tour kicks off on June 7th at the Kia Forum, the same venue where Rush played their final concert with Peart in 2015.
Following everything that’s happened since our last performance, Alex and I have spent a lot of time reflecting and realized how much we miss playing together,” Lee said in a statement about the tour. “It feels like the right time to celebrate over 50 years of Rush’s music.”
After the death of Neil Peart in 2020 from brain cancer, the possibility of Rush reuniting was a difficult topic. As recently as last year, Alex Lifeson stated in Rolling Stone that they wouldn’t find a new drummer and perform as Rush again.
Music
As a huge music fan, I always thought Neil Peart, the drummer and lyricist for Rush, was just incredible. He wasn’t just good – everyone considered him one of the most talented musicians rock has ever seen.
On this tour, the band will be performing with Anika Nilles, a highly-regarded German drummer who has previously played with Jeff Beck.
Lee announced that while Neil was one-of-a-kind, the band has found an amazing new drummer named Anika Nilles. She’s a fantastic musician who is starting a new and exciting phase for the band, while also pursuing her own music. The band is thrilled to introduce her to their dedicated fans and believes they will welcome her warmly as she steps into a challenging role.
Neil Peart’s wife, Carrie Nuttall-Peart, and daughter Olivia have given their support to the Fifty Something Tour. They expressed their excitement to celebrate the band’s music, which has inspired fans for generations, and to honor Neil’s incredible talent as a drummer and songwriter.
