A fourth Rush Hour movie is moving forward quickly, with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker expected to return. Pre-production is said to be starting in just a few weeks, less than three months after the project was approved and almost 20 years since the last film came out.
When they started filming the first Rush Hour movie in 1997, Chris Tucker was 26 and Jackie Chan was 43. Now, at ages 54 and 71, they’re a bit older to be doing all the action and fighting.
As a huge fan, I was so excited to hear about this pairing! Luckily, it sounds like they’ll have plenty of time to prepare. A source told TMZ that filming won’t start until the fall, which means months of training and getting ready – that’s fantastic news for the movie!
Jackie Chan is famous for doing his own incredible stunts – he’s broken almost every bone in his body while performing them! He currently holds the world record for the most stunts done by a living actor, with over 100 performed, but that has come at a cost, including a dislocated pelvis, fractured skull, and numerous broken bones in his fingers, toes, nose, cheekbones, hips, sternum, neck, ankle, and ribs.
The director of the popular buddy cop movies, Brett Ratner, is also involved, signing on to both co-produce and direct the fourth film, which is reportedly going to be filmed in Moscow.
This film signals the director’s comeback to Hollywood, following his dismissal from Warner Bros. in 2017. That decision came after multiple actresses, including Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, and Elliot Page, publicly accused him of sexual misconduct – allegations he has denied.
Despite a ten-year break from filmmaking, Ratner’s recent Amazon documentary about Melania Trump hasn’t performed well. It’s earned only $9.5 million against a $40 million production budget (excluding the $28 million paid to Melania Trump herself) and has received very negative reviews.
According to a source at Semafor, former President Donald Trump – a fan of the 1988 film Bloodsport – reportedly asked Paramount Pictures owner Larry Ellison last November to consider making another Rush Hour movie.
Paramount+ is the frontrunner to air a UFC event celebrating the 80th birthday of the twice-impeached politician on June 14th. The event will be held in a specially constructed stadium on the White House lawn near the Ellipse.
Arthur Sarkissian, who produced the Rush Hour films, was also involved in Christopher Martini’s 2024 documentary about Trump, a film that presented a very positive view of him and was titled The Man You Don’t Know.
Back in 2016, after he was first elected, Chan shared with Yahoo Celebrity that people should ‘give him a chance,’ and expressed confidence in his skills as a businessman who could effectively manage complex situations.
In a 2018 interview with Good Morning Britain, Tucker explained he simply hoped Trump would succeed and make good decisions.
The documents related to Epstein frequently feature mentions and photos of Ratner, Tucker, and a former contestant from The Apprentice.
During a Monday interview with Piers Morgan, the Emmy-winning journalist struggled to answer questions about Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. He stated he was with his unnamed fiancée at the time, even though photos showed she wasn’t wearing an engagement ring.
The first three Rush Hour movies, created by Ross LaManna between 1998 and 2007, earned a total of $850.8 million worldwide, even though critics liked them less and less with each installment. The films follow Hong Kong police inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and LAPD detective James Carter (Chris Tucker).
In 2016, Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick developed a television series with Justin Hires and Jon Foo as the leads, but CBS cancelled it after a single season.
Actor and comedian, known for his role in The Fifth Element and recently performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival, will be doing a live stand-up show this Friday at The Dome in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always impressed by those who continue to thrive, and this honorary Oscar winner is a perfect example! They were incredibly busy last year, appearing in three fantastic projects: Unexpected Family, The Shadow’s Edge, and the latest installment, Karate Kid: Legends. It’s clear they have no plans to retire anytime soon, which is truly inspiring!
