A new action movie, similar to ‘Rush Hour,’ is being developed, and sources say Donald Trump was involved in getting it made.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is finalizing a deal for a fourth Rush Hour movie, which would bring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker back together for the first time since the original film became a huge success in 1998 and launched a blockbuster franchise.
Brett Ratner, the director of the previous three films, may be returning, despite facing multiple sexual misconduct allegations that led to a downfall in his career in 2017.
Ratner returned to filmmaking by directing a large-scale documentary about Melania Trump, who also served as an executive producer on the project.
The project gave him a foothold back in Hollywood — and a politically powerful ally.
A recent report indicates that President Trump has been urging Larry Ellison, a longtime friend and the billionaire founder of Oracle, to revive popular action movies in cinemas, with a potential reboot of ‘Rush Hour’ as the first project.

Larry Ellison’s son, David, now leads Paramount Global and is considering making a very large offer to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that originally released the movie Rush Hour.
Semafor claims the president ‘personally pressed’ Ellison to ‘revive’ Rush Hour.
There are reports he’s also interested in bringing back the 1988 movie Bloodsport, which could signal a trend of older action films being remade in Hollywood under his influence.
I’ve been following this story closely, and it’s frustrating that we haven’t heard anything back yet. The Daily Mail reached out to representatives for Tucker, Chan, and Ratner for a statement, but they haven’t gotten a response. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, and as a dedicated follower, I’m hoping they’ll address things soon.
Before Donald Trump’s involvement, the Rush Hour movies had become a hugely popular and profitable action-comedy series for their time.
The 1998 movie successfully combined Jackie Chan’s incredible martial arts skills with Chris Tucker’s energetic and hilarious comedy, creating a fast-paced mix of action and laughs that audiences around the world loved.
The film grossed over $245 million worldwide, far exceeding its $33 million production budget.
I remember being so excited for Rush Hour 2 when it came out in 2001! It absolutely smashed box office records, opening with a huge $67 million in the US – it was the biggest opening ever for a live-action comedy back then. And it didn’t stop there – it went on to make an incredible $347 million around the world!

Released in 2007, Rush Hour 3 earned $258 million worldwide, even though critics weren’t very impressed. This showed that audiences still enjoyed the on-screen pairing of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, despite the series getting older.
Ratner’s directing brought a fast-paced, funny, and action-packed style to the series, which helped keep it exciting and popular with viewers.
I heard rumors last year that Brett Ratner might direct again, but a potential Rush Hour reboot was quickly shut down. Apparently, his past behavior made the project too risky for anyone to get involved.
According to Variety, Ratner tried for months to find a company to distribute the project, but major distributors were hesitant due to concerns about associating with him.
Brett Ratner’s career quickly declined after several actresses, including Olivia Munn and Elliot Page, publicly accused him of sexual misconduct in 2017.
He claims the accusations against him are false. He also reached a settlement in 2018 with Melanie Kohler, who had accused him of defamation.
Rush Hour 4 would be Brett Ratner’s first major movie since 2014’s Hercules, which starred Dwayne Johnson. After a ten-year break from directing feature films, this project could be made possible thanks to the surprising support of a film-loving president.
A new documentary about Melania Trump, costing Amazon $40 million and covering the 20 days leading up to Trump’s 2025 inauguration, will be released in January. This marks his return to creating entertainment content.

As for the franchise’s stars, both have kept things diplomatic when it comes to Trump.
Following Donald Trump’s election victory in 2016, Jackie Chan expressed optimism, saying, ‘Let’s see what he can do. As a businessman, he likely has the skills to address these challenges and potentially improve both America and the world.’
In a 2018 interview with Piers Morgan, Tucker avoided discussing politics, though he did acknowledge having met Donald Trump on one occasion.
He added, ‘I want him to be successful, I want him to do the right thing.’
