As a seasoned observer of the human condition, it is fascinating to witness the evolution of perspectives and experiences over time. Rupert Everett, with his colorful past and diverse roles, presents us an intriguing case study.

In his younger days, Rupert Everett openly acknowledged that uninhibited sexual experiences carried significant risk during the height of the AIDS crisis.

In a recent heartfelt chat, I shared my personal journey of self-discovery concerning my sexual awakening, an experience that took place amidst the vibrant streets of London. Despite the potential risks involved, I couldn’t help but find it exhilarating and thrilling.

In a casual and straightforward rephrasing,

He dated the likes of Bianca Jagger, Susan Sarandon, Paula Yates, Béatrice Dalle ‘with varying degrees of success’ – but always knew he was gay.

Regarding his intimate relationships, he confided in The Times: “I was foolish. I still don’t grasp it and can’t appreciate it… I believed that sex would be my escape from a restrictive military middle-class upbringing, but it turned out to be fraught with risk, not just from AIDS. Instead, it brought more complications.

As a lifestyle guide, I find myself treading on thin ice, oblivious to the danger, mirroring my younger self seems like a distant memory.

However he added: ‘It was really fun and thrilling. I was so into gay sex I didn’t mind who I had it with.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I didn’t seek out attractive individuals exclusively. Instead, my goal was to connect with anyone. This approach was exhilaratingly novel, refreshing, and somewhat rebellious.

He added that at that time it was still not widely acceptable to be gay and that in terms of any potential physical or verbal abuse he would get he ‘had to be ready for anything’.

Earlier this year it was revealed that he had married Henrique.

Previously, he had been critical of the traditional concept of marriage, and his critique extended to same-sex unions, which he described as a “waste of time” and “heartbreaking.

A friend told The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden in June: ‘They married recently.

They both sport rings, and their joy is palpable. Henrique exudes charm; he’s a bit reserved, content to allow Rupert to hog the limelight.

He has in the past spoken with characteristic verve about marriage – and about why, in his words, it’s ‘not my idea of heaven’.

In 2020, he shared that he found everything related to friends’ weddings distasteful, and attending bachelor parties in the early 1980s was one of the worst experiences he had ever encountered.

Expressing his opinion more vividly, he passionately characterized wedding dresses as “unattractive,” wedding cakes as “frightening,” and regrettably noted that a significant number of couples tend to separate within just two years following their wedding day.

Everett mused that turning it into a formal contract could severely strain a relationship, given his past experiences with John Hervey, a man who, in his reckless youth, developed a destructive association with the 7th Marquess of Bristol. This individual, unfortunately, succumbed to AIDS at the age of 44, having squandered approximately £35 million on substances, prostitutes, and other forms of entertainment.

Everett remarked, ‘A connection must evolve, grow, and adapt daily, transforming into something new each time.’ However, he acknowledged that his viewpoint has evolved over time.

Expressing his desire to stay with Henrique for all time – residing together with Everett’s mom and their dog, Pluto, in Wiltshire – he mentioned he imagined a simple, understated wedding ceremony.

He clarified that it won’t be George Clooney on a water scooter speeding along the Grand Canal in Venice. Instead, it will be quite tranquil.

Over the past few weeks, this celebrity has been actively endorsing his latest publication, titled “The American No,” which is an assemblage of brief tales influenced by the glamour of Hollywood.

This year in March, Rupert expressed that if he were growing up currently, he likely would have been inspired to undergo a gender transition – and he identifies as a woman now.

As a youngster, the actor confessed that he was fond of dressing up as the opposite gender extensively, and if he were born in a more recent era, he feels certain that he would have undergone a gender transition.

However, the actor said that he wouldn’t have wanted to be a woman as he loves ‘being a gay man’.

Everett told the Rosebud podcast: ‘I was a very shy, quiet, child. I loved sitting in cupboards.

In a more contemporary setting, I would identify as a woman, as I fondly cherished dressing up in one of my mother’s old skirts, imagining myself to be the daughter of Julie Andrews.

After watching The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, a significant shift occurred in my life.

As a child, my best friend’s wedding actor confessed that he enjoyed pretending to be part of a household while dressed as a woman, at the age of five.

He went on to explain that he would don her wig and robe, then head out through the backdoor, approach the front door, and press the doorbell, feigning the role of a guest.

‘And, I’d have one of her handbags and the first time they’d go “Oh hello, what’s your name”.

After entering, I’d briefly stay in the sitting room before being told after around five minutes, “Alright dear, it’s time for bed now.

After retiring to my bedroom, once I settled down, and once they moved downstairs, I would leap out of bed once more, grab another outfit, sneak around to the back, head to the front door, press the doorbell, and repeat the process.

Everett said when he was older, and had moved to London, he was having a ‘fantastic time’.

He added: ‘I went to drama school in diamanté earrings, I mean I would have definitely transitioned if it had been now.

‘I think now, I would have been encouraged to and probably would have done.’

Despite this, Everett admitted he ‘didn’t’ want to be a woman.

‘No, I like being a man, I love being a gay man.’
