Run times for all 8 episodes of House of the Dragon season 2
As a hardcore fan of “Game of Thrones” and now “House of the Dragon,” I have to say that I’m both excited and disappointed with the episode count and runtimes for season 2. With only eight episodes compared to ten in the first season, it feels like we’re getting less of the intrigue, drama, and epic battles that make this world so captivating.
Almost finished with the second season of “House of the Dragon,” HBO’s prequel to “Game of Thrones.” Now we have the length of each episode from HBO’s official schedule. Here is a comprehensive list, including release dates and known titles: (HBO has been less than forthcoming about episode titles prior to their release)
- Episode 201, “A Son for a Son”: June 16 (1 hour, 4 minutes)
- Episode 202, “Rhaenyra the Cruel”: June 23 (1 hour, 12 minutes)
- Episode 203, “The Burning Mill”: June 30 (1 hour, 10 minutes)
- Episode 204, “The Red Dragon and the Gold”: July 7 (56 minutes)
- Episode 205, “Regent”: July 14 (1 hour, 7 minutes)
- Episode 206: “Smallfolk”: July 21 (1 hour, 10 minutes)
- Episode 207: July 28 (1 hour, 7 minutes)
- Episode 208: August 4 (1 hour, 13 minutes)
In the second season, there are merely eight episodes instead of the ten we had in the first. It’s disappointing to have fewer installments of the show this time. However, each episode tends to be longer than before on average. Here’s a comparison with the running times from season 1:
- Episode 101, “The Heirs of the Dragon”: 1 hour, 6 minutes
- Episode 102, “The Rogue Prince”: 54 minutes
- Episode 103, “Second of His Name”: 58 minutes
- Episode 104, “King of the Narrow Sea”: 1 hour, 3 minutes
- Episode 105, “We Light The Way”: 1 hour
- Episode 106, “The Princess and the Queen”: 1 hour, 8 minutes
- Episode 107, “Driftmark” 58 minutes
- Episode 108, “The Lord of the Tides”: 1 hour, 6 minutes
- Episode 109, “The Green Council”: 1 hour
- Episode 110, “The Black Queen”: 1 hour, 3 minutes
In the first season, the longest episode was “The Princess and the Queen,” lasting a total of 68 minutes on screen. However, episodes in the second season surpass this length, with the forthcoming final episode currently unnamed and reaching a record-breaking 73 minutes as the longest episode produced so far.
As a longtime fan of “Game of Thrones,” I’ve grown accustomed to HBO keeping us guessing until the very last minute. With only two episodes left in this final season, my anticipation is at an all-time high.
