Rumours swirl Sonia Kruger will 'jump ship from Channel Seven to Nine' to host new Golden Bachelor series

This is a play on words that was used at the time of The Bachelor. The joke was written by a member of Channel Nine who was notoriously known for their wit and wisdom.

She is one of Seven’s biggest stars.

It’s been reported that Sonia Kruger, who recently won the Gold Logie, appears set to switch to Network Nine.

58-year-old timeless charm is reportedly in talks to become the host for Nine’s upcoming dating series, The Golden Bachelor. This has sparked a competitive struggle among broadcasting companies.

According to a source, there are whispers suggesting that Sonia might revive The Golden Bachelor on Channel Nine as early as 2025. Yahoo Lifestyle reported this news on Wednesday.

1. ‘Sonia was greatly enjoyed by Channel Nine, and there’s no doubt that she’d be warmly received again. In fact, two networks are fiercely competing for the opportunity to secure Sonia’s services starting next year.’

As reported by the source, the termination of Sonia’s hosting gig for Big Brother Seven has created an open space or gap within her popular contract that requires filling.

The Golden Bachelor is a spin-off of The Bachelor format and focuses on ‘seniors’ looking for romance. It was launched in the U.S. last year to blockbuster ratings.

The format return comes after Channel 10 axed The Bachelor, hosted by Osher Günsberg in May.

The insider also said that fans can expect Nine to deliver a major makeover to the format.

They mentioned that ‘The Bachelor’ will undergo a significant transformation compared to its previous productions by Network 10. Furthermore, they expressed their hopes that with Sonia as host, the reality show will exude an air of sophistication and elegance.

They added that Nine was hoping that the Golden Bachelor would be as ‘big as MAFS’.

Sonia last worked for Nine as host of Big Brother a decade ago.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Nine and Seven for comment.

Osher Günsberg, the host of the Australian Bachelor franchise on Channel 10, announced in May that both shows, The Bachelor and The Masked Singer, will not be returning to our screens any time in the near future.

After the chopping (or after it was announced), TV Blackbox reported last month that Channel Nine is planning to officially unveil an Australian adaptation of The Bachelorette, during their annual Upfronts gathering in October.

In the U.S., where it initially aired on ABC, the show featured Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old man who was both a former restaurant owner and a widower, as its main character.

Gerry decided to pop the question to 70-year-old Theresa Nist, and the broadcast aired their wedding ceremony live as a special event.

Despite the fanfare, the couple divorced three months later.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but brag about how our beloved series became an unstoppable ratings beast on ABC! The grand finale alone graced an astounding 6.1 million TV screens across America, marking the highest viewership for the franchise in a whopping three years!

The first episode broke new ground for ABC, setting record ratings according to Deadline. It became the most-watched premiere of any series in the franchise on Hulu, and it also claimed the top spot as ABC’s highest-rated series premiere ever on their streaming service (Live+3).

Additionally, the article mentioned that the popularity of the Golden Bachelor has led to further expansion, as ABC has announced the introduction of The Golden Bachelorette.

When approached by Daily Mail Australia, a representative from Channel Nine stated that they won’t disclose their TV schedule for 2025 until the Upfronts presentation takes place.
