Kyle Sandilands is reportedly looking for a wealthy investor to help him purchase the Australian Radio Network (ARN).
The popular radio host, age 54, is involved in a major legal dispute with his former employer after they cancelled his show, ‘Kyle & Jackie O,’ and ended his $100 million contract.
News.com.au reports that he’s reportedly prepared to invest $10 million to purchase the network, but requires an additional $90 million to complete the acquisition.
According to a source, Kyle is being considered to lead the network and make significant changes to its management team.
They believed he wouldn’t accept the current situation. He’d want full control and involvement, because what’s the point of being an owner if you can’t actually influence things?
‘He has done every job in radio and he knows what not to do.’
They added that Kyle was really enthusiastic about returning to radio and was even willing to accept a lower salary than his previous $10 million per year.
They indicated he’d be willing to consider the proposal, but only if the details were favorable.
However, a source says several wealthy individuals are seriously considering joining Kyle in a purchase of ARN.
Daily Mail has reached out to Kyle for further comment.
Rumors started circulating last month that the controversial radio host was considering buying the network, but those whispers came before the announcement of his firing.
After his co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, left, the radio personality supposedly said he was planning to purchase ARN while waiting to hear about his future with the network.
In March, Craig Bruce – formerly Kyle’s manager during his time as program director at 2DayFM – shared the news on his Game Changers Radio platform.
Craig alleges that Kyle discussed a possible acquisition of ARN while filming Australian Idol, where he is a judge.
Should someone fired from a company be able to buy it and take charge of its future direction?
What’s your view?
Craig reported that Kyle Sandilands is scheduled to return to the airwaves on Wednesday, unless he’s fired on Tuesday, which Sandilands himself believes is likely to happen.
I received some information from a listener who attended the Idol auditions. They said someone told either a large or small group of people that they have a plan.
He’s predicting one of two things will happen: either he’ll be fired on Tuesday and then purchase the network, or he’ll be on the radio Wednesday, meaning he hasn’t been fired.
‘That’s according to Kyle Sandilands himself. The plot thickens.’
It is unclear if Kyle made the comments seriously or in jest.
A well-known radio host is currently involved in a major legal battle with ARN, and the case is now being heard in Federal Court.
Kyle has recently filed a lawsuit in federal court, claiming that ARN intentionally interfered with his $100 million deal.
He argued that his fight with Jackie, 51, which resulted in both his firing and the show’s cancellation, wasn’t serious enough to warrant dismissal because his employer had previously allowed similar behavior.
After 25 years working together on the air, Kyle and Jackie’s partnership ended abruptly on February 20th when Kyle publicly criticized Jackie for being overly focused on astrology.
After ending her $100 million contract last month, ARN is now reportedly trying to re-hire Jackie for a significantly reduced salary under a new arrangement.
