Rumor: Next Avengers Movie After Doomsday & Secret Wars Will Be [Spoiler]

A recent rumor hints at the direction the Avengers franchise might take after the upcoming ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ films.

I’m getting word that Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is now in post-production, which is hugely exciting! The Russo Brothers, who did fantastic work on previous Marvel films, are directing. We’re looking at a release in just over a year, and then, get this, Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for 2027. It sounds like Marvel isn’t slowing down anytime soon!

What is rumored to be the next Avengers movie after Doomsday and Secret Wars?

Alex Perez, a reporter for The Cosmic Circus, was asked about what’s next for Marvel’s Avengers series after the ‘Secret Wars’ storyline.

Perez said they’re currently working on the next Avengers story. He’s heard rumors for the last two years suggesting it will be another adventure set in space, and there are a lot of different directions they could go with it.

As a huge Marvel fan, I was blown away to learn about some of the ideas they’ve had for the next big saga! Apparently, they originally envisioned a massive movie bringing together the Eternals, Celestials, and the Horde, all tied into a ‘Judgment Day’ storyline. But it sounds like they’re now going in a different direction. They’re thinking of a smaller, more focused story featuring Annihilus and his Annihilation Wave as the main villains. Even cooler, they’re planning to introduce Annihilus in a Disney+ show first, where he’ll be a secondary threat to the Nova Corps. The show’s villains will likely be some of Annihilus’s top commanders – they’ve mentioned characters like Admiral Salo, or even one of his powerful concubines, like Eradica, Extirpia, or Extermina. It sounds like they’re really building something epic!

Right now, this is just speculation. Marvel hasn’t confirmed any Avengers movies beyond Secret Wars, and probably won’t for a while. There’s a lot of talk about Annihilus potentially appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon—many fans hope Marvel adapts the “Annihilation” storyline—but there have been no official announcements about that either.

The next two major Avengers movies are scheduled to come out in December 2026 and December 2027. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be released first, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
