Rumer Willis lashes out at nepo baby claims as she says she gets ‘no money’ from parents Bruce or Demi

Rumer Willis responded to criticism about benefiting from her famous parents, discussing the challenges and joys of raising her two-year-old daughter, Louetta, as a single mother.

The actress, who is 37 and the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, had a baby girl with her then-boyfriend, Derek Richard Thomas, in 2023. They ended their relationship in August 2024.

Willis posted a video on Instagram Monday showing the busy life of single mothers. The Reel, titled ‘Single Moms Be Like,’ featured her managing everyday activities like making lunch, scheduling playdates, preparing meals, and exercising, with those tasks appearing as text on the screen.

She then reposted the video with a message for her followers. She explained that she felt the need to address some unhelpful and impolite comments she’d received on the original post.

I’m working four jobs to support my daughter, and I do it all on my own – I don’t receive any financial help from family or a trust fund. I rarely get help with her, so I’m asking people to think before they criticize or make assumptions about my situation.

Okay, so someone online was saying I have a ‘plan B’ because of my family, like I wouldn’t be where I am without them. It really bothered me, so I had to post a whole thing on my Stories explaining everything. I just needed everyone to know the truth, you know?

I really want to clarify things, because I feel like my previous message wasn’t understood the way I intended. It’s important to me that everyone gets what I was trying to say, so let me explain it a bit better.

She acknowledged she has advantages in life that many others don’t, and she doesn’t consider them something to be taken for granted.

I understand everyone’s experiences are different, and I appreciate that. My recent post wasn’t meant to be about advantages or comparing hardships. It’s frustrating that people seem to think I was overlooking that, because that wasn’t my intention at all.

Willis emphasized that she doesn’t rely on her family as a safety net, and she’s proud to be financially independent and provide for her daughter.

I’ve always admired her strength. She reminded everyone that she’s spent years carrying the full financial weight on her own, and she wasn’t about to let anyone question how much she understands about hardship or how tirelessly she works. It really resonated with me, knowing what she’s overcome.

She explained that we can understand multiple perspectives simultaneously. Everyone’s life is unique, and our experiences are always shaped by the world around us.

I’ve always believed that everyone’s struggles are valid, no matter how they look from the outside. Just because someone else is facing something worse doesn’t mean what I’m going through isn’t real or difficult. It’s like we’re all living in our own worlds, each with its own challenges and layers of experience. It’s easy to compare, but ultimately, everyone’s reality is unique and deserves to be acknowledged.

Willis claims she’s fully responsible for Louetta’s care, but it’s unknown if her ex-partner, Derek Richard Thomas, contributes financially or helps with parenting.

She shared with her fans in November 2025 that she had been emotionally overwhelmed while dealing with the difficulties of raising a child on her own, describing a moment where she cried in the woods.

Being a single mom can be tough sometimes. It’s not that she’s incapable – she’s strong – but managing everything on her own can be challenging.

After announcing her breakup with Thomas—who soon began dating his business partner, Lizzie Loch—Willis shared on Instagram that she was focusing on raising her children as a single parent while continuing to co-parent with her ex.

Since then, the family has rallied around him. 

Rumer recently posted a touching message online, saying it’s difficult to put into words how she’s feeling. She’s thankful she can still embrace him and see his joy when he spends time with his granddaughter, Louetta.
