Roxy Jacenko’s $10M Mansion Giveaway Ends in Chaos, Sells for $7.3M After Legal Drama

The mansion located in Cronulla that was part of Roxy Jacenko’s unsuccessful $10 million home raffle has been purchased for $7.3 million, a year following the contest which sparked legal disputes.

This spacious four-bedroom, four-bathroom house, boasting 468 square meters of land and two parking spots, is marketed as a ‘modern work of art’.

Last year, I found myself right in the middle of a buzzing debate when, together with my associates Youssef Tleis and Kassim Alaouie, I unveiled an enticing campaign that made my high-end property the grand prize for participants enrolling in my fitness program.

The contest offers a single individual the opportunity to win an extravagant grand prize that includes a stunning $10 million waterfront house, a luxurious Birkin handbag, and a high-end Rolex watch.

Nevertheless, the promotion encountered swift criticism upon Jacenko’s sudden withdrawal, claiming that there was an insufficient amount of prize money available.

As a result of this decision, it sparked disputes in the courts and a series of refunds given out to disgruntled participants.

But most participants were left out of pocket after a narrow refund window, sparking outrage.

Due to the unsuccessful event, Jacenko’s Bootcamp business was officially closed down by court order, as liquidators were appointed to handle the proceedings in the New South Wales Supreme Court.

Jacenko later admitted feeling remorse about the business endeavor, and at the same time, maintained that there was no legal requirement for her to provide the refunds.

Regardless of the ongoing disputes, Jacenko’s court case against her past business associates persisted through the year.

After the event’s failure, the property was first put up for sale in 2023 with an approximate value of $10 million. However, it didn’t attract a buyer at that price.

Currently, following several rounds of talks spanning over a few months, the property was successfully sold for an impressive $7.3 million to a firm managed by Andrew McVeigh, who is the head of Remara Investment Management.

Initially, the co-owners, Mr. Tleis and Mr. Alaouie, put up their four-bedroom property for auction in 2023. However, after they couldn’t find a buyer, they decided to withdraw the listing.

Following the contentious debacle with my unfortunate lottery endeavor, I couldn’t bear the thought of any dissatisfied participants being left empty-handed. So, I personally ensured that a total of $76,000 was returned to those who felt let down by the outcome.

Earlier, Jacenko announced on Instagram that she was stepping away from their shared business due to an identified deficiency in the prize money fund. She vowed to reimburse affected customers personally using her own resources.

She stated to Daily Mail Australia that she is committed to honoring her promise of refunding customers, which has left $684,000 of her own money in her lawyer’s trust fund as of then.

In June, as reported by The Daily Telegraph, I disbursed refunds totaling $76,019 to participants of the canceled giveaway, representing more than 10% of the funds I had pledged for repayments, which I myself had set aside.

Approximately 7,489 individuals enrolled in the boot camp by paying a fee between $29 and $499. However, it was predicted that around 90% of these participants ended up not getting their money back after the refunds were processed.

Refunds were only available for those who submitted their refund requests between June 9 and June 15, a duration of seven days.

Following accusations about a short refund period, Jacenko defended herself on social media, stating that she wasn’t obligated to provide such a refund in the first place.

She explained, “Currently, I’m handling refunds using my own banking resources. It’s important to note that the business partnership I formed with two others unfortunately didn’t succeed as planned.

If you value honesty, starting this week, you will return the money to those you owe – a practice I am adopting myself. The option for refunds stays open until the present day.

She noted that when you purchase Nutri-Grain at Woolworths, you can’t expect to return or exchange it for a refund after three months have passed.
