Rove McManus makes huge announcement about his future on The Project after guest hosting stints
As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Rove McManus’ decision to potentially make The Project his permanent Friday gig is a brilliant move. His charisma and comedic timing have always been a hit with audiences, making him the perfect fit for this role.
In this exclusive chat, I, a devoted admirer, was thrilled to learn about the plans of my beloved Project host, Rove McManus, regarding his future on the highly popular Channel Ten current affairs program.
50-year-old comedian discussed his upcoming ventures during an open conversation with Jordy Lucas and Alexandria Funnell on the “That’s Showbiz, Baby” podcast.
Acknowledging that he had multiple projects ongoing, the three-time Gold Logie recipient hinted that his position at The Project might be long-term.
Over time, Rove has frequently appeared as a guest host on the program, even coming back in 2023. However, he wasn’t anticipating this role to evolve into something long-term.
‘I’m in at The Project at the moment. I kind of stumbled back into it,’ he said.
I didn’t initiate the return; I was invited, and I assumed it would only be temporary, lasting a few months towards the end of the previous year.
After that, it seemed as if the conversation shifted towards: “Shall we continue into this coming year?” Now, our discussion has moved on to the upcoming year.
In a thrilling update, he shared his anticipation about possibly making The Project a regular part of his weekly schedule (every Friday), aiming to infuse a touch of humor into their news program.
On Fridays, it seems like the Project and I have found our regular spot, and I’m really enjoying this new consistency.
I’m considering the possibility of changing up our Friday show, hoping to give it a unique atmosphere compared to other days.
If my current role becomes permanent next year as it appears likely, I’ll be eager to see what the future holds.
He mentioned that the long-term aspect of the job is appealing, considering how frequently jobs in the entertainment industry can be temporary.
He mentioned, “It’s enjoyable to know there’s always something demanding my full attention, but let me tell you, juggling many tasks is a necessity in this line of work.
It can be challenging since we work in a field where there isn’t typically a year-long contract for a show, unlike news projects which have their unique dynamics.
He mentioned that the job security in Australia’s entertainment sector has decreased significantly compared to when he was hosting his well-known variety show, Rove Live, during the early 2000s.
‘Entertainment shows like ours we had 40 weeks of the year,’ he said.
“If we were to attempt it today, I estimate the time it would take would range between 8 hours (at best) or likely 12 hours.
In the years 2003, 2004, and 2005, the TV show host received three Gold Logie awards for being the most popular personality on Australian television screens, which he earned while working on Rove Live on Channel Ten.
His collection of Gold Logie awards ranks him among the top five, alongside notable figures such as Graham Kennedy, Ray Martin, Lisa McCune, Darryl Somers, and Bert Newton, who also have accumulated a significant number of these prestigious awards.
