Rouge Best Builds, Teams, and How to PlayRouge Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

Overview

  • Great defensive-orientated CDR unit, enabling multiple teams to run three Burst III DPS’s. This is great for Commanders that don’t have any of the support duos (Bunny Pair, Crown/Tia and Naga)
  • Good buffer for HP-dependent Units (Only 2B as of now), Increases healing of healers that is based on Final Max HP
  • Decent offensive buffs that are almost full uptime
  • Drop kicks Noir out of most Blanc teams as Rouge is in the same squad as Blanc, which is the requirement of the 20s Cooldown of Blanc’s burst.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

As a seasoned player who’s been through countless battles and raids, I must say that Rouge, the enigmatic CDR Nikke, certainly catches the eye with her unique charm. However, I’ve found that she doesn’t quite live up to the hype when it comes to game-changing abilities compared to other burst I CDR Nikkes. She’s more of a solo raid specialist, rather than a team player in your main battle lineup.

Rouge, a flexible CDR Nikke character, stands out due to her healing abilities. This versatility allows her to function as a substitute healer in various team setups, making her an excellent choice for beginners. However, it’s important to note that her healing power is slightly lower compared to characters such as Pepper, Rapunzel, Alice:Wonderland Bunny and others. Despite this, Rogue can still provide sufficient healing for most bosses even under challenging CP deficits.

Despite Rouge’s Kit appearing to have a high healing potential, the majority of her abilities focus on increasing Max HP rather than actual healing. The few healing skills she has do not scale with her maximum HP like other healers, implying that her healing capacity cannot be boosted by any means other than leveling up Rouge herself and improving her gear.

Adding an additional 777 Squad member to our team facilitates taking advantage of Blanc’s potent burst, as it increases the likelihood that another Nikke will trigger her 20-second cooldown passive (one of the strongest bursts within the game).

Skills

Rouge Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

Skill 1: Card Throw

Triggers during an attack when fully charged, benefiting all team members.

Essential Ability: Lowers cooldown (CD) after every 8 full recharge cycles, regardless of targets hit. A visual cue confirms when this ability activates. To guarantee consistent cooldown reduction, this skill requires a maximum ammunition capacity.

Rouge Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

As noted by the skill description itself, her Max HP buff does not heal.

Skill 2: Coin Flip

When placed at the back row during battle, this ability triggers and benefits both the user and two adjacent allies on either side.

A lengthy skill, but the most important thing to note of is her Sword Coin effect. Rouge needs to be placed at the backline, which are positions 2 and 4. Rouge will buff the Nikkes that are adjacent to her. Not putting her in either position (2 or 4) is simply DPS loss.

Buffing Priority

The Commander prefers to position Defense Personnel Squads next to her because Rogue’s abilities grant temporary damage reduction, increased maximum health (which acts as a one-time healing mechanism), and an attack boost.

Buff time table

In a fight, Sword Coin’s effect is typically triggered within about 45 seconds, given it accounts for reloads at base ammunition and targets remaining on-screen. Consequently, the character’s healing from her burst will also commence around the 45-second mark.

The Double Sword Coin becomes active for roughly 65 seconds during combat, given that each complete burst cycle takes about 13 seconds.

Burst: Game Master

This ability boosts the attack power and maximum health of all allies when certain coin statuses are activated. Here’s a breakdown:

Rouge’s Burst ability possesses both restorative powers and some offensive potential. The healing capacity of Rouge isn’t dependent on her maximum HP at the end, unlike many other healers; instead, it relies on her starting Max HP increase. This feature makes her healing amount consistent but relatively lower than other healers because it doesn’t benefit from her own Max HP enhancements.

her healing abilities initiate around the 45-second mark, as the healing aspect of her burst skills activates when the Rogue is under the Shield Coin status effect. This can pose challenges against certain bosses who inflict heavy damage at the outset of battles (like Blacksmith and Alteisein).

As a gamer, I haven’t come across many Damage Per Second (DPS) characters like Nikke who can effectively leverage her Max Health buffs without needing to restore health, aside from the unique case of 2B.

2b

Healers might indirectly gain an advantage from this buff since most of them draw their healing power from the remaining maximum HP. Having a higher maximum HP means more healing potential. However, it’s primarily useful for Blanc, as they work well together naturally. Combining other healers with Rouge might result in excessive healing (overhealing).

Campaign

Rouge excels as an exceptional Campaign Nikke primarily due to her ability to reduce cooldowns. In the late stages of Campaign play, especially when facing significant deficits, healing is generally not advisable because powerful raptures can instantaneously defeat your Nikkes more frequently than not. Consequently, offensive Nikkes with cooldown reduction abilities, such as Liter or D:Killer Wife (with Pierce), are typically favored over healing units in Campaign mode.

Despite initially seeming incongruous, Rogue synergizes exceptionally well with Blanc’s squads. These teams are both comfortable to play and potent in Campaign, primarily because Blanc’s burst healing is immense, a strength that Rouge amplifies through her Max HP boosts. This pairing should effortlessly outlast the damage dealt by Bronchus Raptures’ AoE Fart Raptures.

Moreover, Rogue not only replaces Noir in the Blanc teams but also renders Noir unnecessary for decreasing Blanc’s Cooldown Down (apologies to Noir supporters). Instead, Rogue can now handle that role. This move creates an additional Damage Per Second slot for Blanc teams without significant loss.

In more recent updates, many Nikkes possess substantial boosts to their self-attack damage. This leads some Nikkes to choose Blanc’s ‘Damage taken up’ debuff over piling up more attack damage buffs, even though Blanc’s debuff only lasts for a single enemy Rapture wave. To fully leverage her debuff, the Commander should time Blanc’s burst for heavy Rapture waves and the final Rapture wave.

Blanc Asuka Team

Summary, 7/10 Campaign Clearing, Strong in Mono Fire Content

A Cohesive Team that Primarily Concentrates on Reducing Asuka’s Received Damage through Debuffs, as This is the Only Practical Way to Enhance or Boost her.

If Alice isn’t adequately skilled up to level 10 (in her Burst generating and DPS roles), an alternative Burst generator such as Red Hood might need to be utilized.

Roles And Replacements

  • Rouge – Healing, Offensive and defensive buffs, CDR

DPS’s (B3’s)

  • Modernia – Crowd Control, Sub-DPS
  • Asuka – Wave Clear, Boss killer, Fire buffer
  • Alice – Boss Killer, Burst generator

Offensive Supports (B2’s)

  • Blanc – Healing, Damage Debuffs

  • Red Hood – Burst generator, Boss killer, One time buff
  • Preferred DPS – your most raised DPS

Offensive Supports (B2)

  • Centi – Burst generator (If needed)
  • Anis – Burst generator (If needed)

In my gaming experience, burst generators aren’t always essential for every fight, so I often swap them out with my favorite damage dealers, depending on whether my Commander lacks Alice or Red Hood.

Blanc Generalist Team

Attacker,Rouge,Attacker,Blanc,Attacker

“Even though it might sound basic, Rogue is a CDR Nikke who complements Blanc particularly well. Just make sure to utilize your top-tier Campaign Damage Per Second (DPS) Nikkes, and you should be all set!

With the introduction of Phantom and Quency: Escape Queen, their significant Self Attack damage buffs (as per their Nikkepedia) could potentially complement Blanc teams effectively.

Arena

Rouge is pretty bad in arena as she provides too little. CDR isn’t important in Arena and most of her skills that can be used for stall teams (Max HP) is time-gated and matches will be long over before she’s able to proc them. She also offers no burst generation.

Special Interception | Solo Raid | Union Raid

Special Interception

In most special interceptions, Rogue can effectively function as the sole healer. She’s capable of maintaining the team’s health throughout the fight, with a few exceptions. Blacksmith poses a challenge due to its high burst damage and DPS.

Anomaly

When partnered with Blanc, Rouge can ensure smooth gameplay for commanders with low synchronization levels, thanks to their exceptional team survivability. However, compared to Blanc’s companions like Liter and D:Killer wife, Rouge slightly falls short when it comes to offensive bonuses, outside of Blanc-led teams.

Solo Raid | Union Raid

Rouge is a much needed burst I Healer CDR, opening up more teams for Blanc or Mari Teams

Blanc Collab Team

Blanc,Rei Ayanami,Asuka,Rouge,Modernia

This team functions effectively as everyone complements one another exceptionally well, amplifying various bonuses that boost each other. Moreover, the sustainability of this team is unquestionable, ensuring longevity in gameplay. For quite some time, it seems like Rouge’s go-to team will be this one.

Mari Snow White Team

Mari,Attacker,Snow White,Rouge,Maxwell

A formidable squad composed primarily of Iron Element characters, especially those capable of dealing multiple piercing attacks. If feasible, alternate between Rouge and Miranda bursts, with Miranda using her Burst ability accompanied by Snow White. Additionally, include Yulha, Ludmilla: Winter Owner or Helm: Aquamarine in your team for optimal performance against weak Iron content.

Strengths

  • First CDR that can heal, this opens up multiple teams for those who don’t have complete Nikke collections
  • Same squad as Blanc, allowing more DPS potential for Blanc teams, which has been a staple team for solo raid and normal content for a lengthy period of time
  • Rouge has the most comfortable team that can be used in Boss battles or Campaign when paired with Blanc due to its insane healing potential.
  • Offers multiple Max HP buffs, which may be useful for future Nikkes.

Weaknesses

  • Rouge’s heals Proc after 45s~ in the battle, and her heals are in the weaker side, which may be an issue against some content when using her on teams that don’t have Blanc.
  • Cooldown Reduction is based on skill level (A bit skill book heavy)
  • Promoting Gambling in my Gacha game, Heinous.

Should you pull?

Rouge is an exceptional and somewhat unique Character Development Rate (CDR) Nikke, yet she doesn’t bring anything exceptionally groundbreaking when compared to other burst CDR Nikkes. Rouge may not deliver significant DPS improvements in your main team (if any at all), and she functions better as a Solo raid Nikke.

For those who prefer casual gameplay, adding her to your wishlist should suffice. On the other hand, players focusing on solo raids might want to consider summoning her. However, it’s advisable for you to save your resources for future characters like Quency or the Anniversary Nikke, as they often introduce meta-changing abilities. (From Nikkepedia)

When choosing which dolls to buy, Rogue isn’t the first choice. Instead, focus on obtaining an SR doll for each DPS character first, and then consider Rogue if there are still available resources.

Overload Gear Priority

Typically, supports are not required to handle excessive workloads. However, given that Rouge performs exceptionally well as a campaign partner with Blanc, it might be acceptable to occasionally exceed the limit. To optimize her abilities, she should ideally have at least one maximum ammunition reload for her cooldown reduction anyway.
