On a recent Instagram post dated Tuesday, the 62-year-old humorist and actress publicly confirmed for the first time that her daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell, was arrested last month.
27-year-old Chelsea was taken in by O’Donnell, along with her then-wife Kelli Carpenter. The relationship between the two, mother and daughter, has been strained over long periods of Kelli’s teenage years and adult life.
Chelsea was arrested for the third time in less than three months in connection with drug charges.
More recently, she was apprehended on November 18, with prior detentions on September 10 and October 11 due to accusations involving drug-related crimes.

At the time of her latest arrest, as per reports from Us Weekly following their examination of court records, Chelsea had been released on a $4,000 bond, which was posted by her biological mother on November 13th.
Law enforcement officials reported in legal records that Chelsea was taken into custody on November 18 in Niagara, Wisconsin, following a traffic stop due to the excessive noise from the car’s exhaust system.
In the legal documents, it is stated that police found signs of drug use (specifically ‘pick marks’) on Chelsea’s face. However, when asked to identify herself, she did not have any identification with her at the time.
According to the legal documents, Chelsea provided her name and date of birth to the officer. After this, the officer found out that she was currently on bail due to her previous two arrests.
After clearing the vehicle, officers conducted a search with K9 units, and it was discovered that illegal substances were present, as per court documents. Inside the vehicle’s trunk, they found Naloxone, a drug used to counteract opiate overdose, according to the police.
During a personal search by police in Chelsea’s vicinity, they discovered a well-concealed smoking gadget within her bra, as stated in the official documents. Subsequent analysis of the pipe revealed remnants of methamphetamine.
Court documents reveal that officials stated Chelsea was ‘disputatious’ when police officers attempted to search her, resulting in her being handcuffed. However, she subsequently calmed down and began cooperating, leading to the removal of the handcuffs.
Officials carrying out a thorough search at the Marinette County Jail allegedly discovered a prescription container within Chelsea’s personal areas, according to InTouch, quoting court documents.
The bottle contained a mix of hydrocodone, lamotrigine and Alprazolam pills, legal docs stated; and a bag containing a ‘crystal-like substance,’ according to legal docs reviewed by Us Weekly.
Later on, Chelsea was given five additional accusations, among which were three felonies. Two of these involved methamphetamine possession, while the third was for illegal possession of a controlled substance (narcotics). This information is based on the legal documents.
According to legal documents, Chelsea was additionally accused of minor offenses related to drug paraphernalia ownership and obstructing a police officer.
Following a court hearing on Monday, Chelsea continues to be detained and has been scheduled to appear in court again on December 12th regarding this case, according to Us Weekly’s reporting.
On November 13, Deanna Micoley, Chelsea’s birth mother, secured her release from jail, as Rosie had previously declined to do so. This happened after over a month of detainment for Chelsea, who was arrested on allegations of child abuse and drug-related offenses.
According to reports from US Weekly following their examination of court documents, authorities have set conditions for Chelsea’s release stating that she must abstain from alcohol and drugs.
On September 10, Chelsea was taken into custody in Amberg, Wisconsin following the execution of a search warrant. She has since been indicted for several offenses, including felony child neglect, possessing methamphetamine, THC, and overseeing a location where illegal drug transactions were occurring.
In addition, Chelsea is being charged with minor offenses related to drug paraphernalia ownership, disturbing the peace, and possessing medication without a valid prescription.
After a $2,000 bail was paid in September, Chelsea was released from detention. However, she was rearrested on October 11 in Oconto, Wisconsin, with a meth pipe on her person, and was subsequently re-imprisoned at the Oconto County Jail.
Reports indicate that Chelsea is now facing additional serious allegations, including skipping bail on a felony charge, possessing meth and other illegal drugs, as well as misdemeanor charges for drug paraphernalia possession and hindering or resisting an officer.
Earlier this month, Chelsea shared with Dailymail.com that she’s employing a firm strategy when it comes to the ongoing legal matter involving Rosie (who is 62 years old).
On November 4th, Chelsea reported saying to someone: ‘When I reached out to Rosie asking her for help, she responded bluntly, “You should stay where you are,”.’ She clarified, ‘She explained that she couldn’t assist me in leaving there; she didn’t want me to harm myself. Chelsea expressed disappointment to Dailymail.com from prison, stating that it seemed like the Emmy-winning entertainer was showing greater concern for the release of convicted killers Erik and Lyle Menendez rather than her own situation.
Chelsea expressed, ‘My mom seems to care more about freeing the Menendez Brothers from prison than helping me get treatment for my drug issue.’ She added, ‘I struggle with substance abuse and require rehabilitation, but unlike the Menendez Brothers, I’ve never taken a life.’
Chelsea told Dailymail.com that the A League of Their Own star ‘has turned her back on’ her.
According to a representative for the actor who starred in “American Gigolo,” they shared with US Weekly on Tuesday that their family expresses hope that she receives the necessary care and support.
Over a period of time, Rosie has been vocal about her criticism towards the newly elected President, Donald Trump. She is a mother to five children who were adopted, including son Parker (aged 29), Chelsea (27 years old), Blake (24), Vivienne (22) and Dakota (11 years old).

Chelsea expressed to Dailymail.com that she believed it was possible she might be sent to jail as a result of the arrests, and should that happen, she wished to spend quality time with her four kids.
Chelsea added at the time, ‘I’m trying to get bailed out of here.’
