Rose’s The Night Agent Season 4 Return & Why Peter Can’t Move

Gabriel Basso, the lead actor in The Night Agent, shared some thoughts on what his character, Peter Sutherland, is feeling after his breakup with Rose (Luciane Buchanan), and hinted at whether Buchanan might return to the show.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, actor Jacob Basso talked about how his character, Peter, is doing at the start of the new season after his breakup with Rose. Basso explained that while Peter misses Rose, her absence has allowed him to concentrate more on his work. He emphasized that Rose was a significant person in Peter’s life and that he feels her loss deeply.

The actor also mentioned how difficult it was to film without his co-star, who played Rose. Having worked with her on both seasons of The Night Agent, it felt strange and upsetting not to have her on set. He explained that the entire team, including the crew, really missed her.

We really missed having Luciane with us. She was fantastic to work with on the first two seasons, and everyone on set loved her positive energy and relaxed attitude. She’s just a wonderful person to be around.

Without Rose in his life, Peter can now fully concentrate on his work, without the added stress of protecting her or keeping her separate from his world. However, this also means he’s lost someone he deeply cares about. She remains important to him, as shown in a scene where he’s deciding what to do with his possessions – she’s essentially the only person he considers. Her absence is definitely felt.

Basso suggested that Rose’s storyline might not be over, and she could potentially return in season 4 of The Night Agent. He pointed to Chelsea’s return to the show after previously leaving as an example of how characters can reappear, even after it seems like their story is finished.

I’m really hoping we’ll see her again in season 4! It would be amazing if she had a return like Chelsea did – appearing in the first season and then coming back in the third. I truly believe Peter doesn’t just forget about people who matter to him, and she clearly meant a lot to him, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

The Night Agent Shouldn’t Give Peter Another Love Interest

During a recent conversation, Gabriel Basso shared that he initially opposed the idea of introducing a new romantic partner for his character, Peter, in season 3 of The Night Agent. The show’s writers discussed the possibility with him, asking his opinion on Peter having a new girlfriend. Basso strongly objected, explaining that Peter’s character isn’t like James Bond and shouldn’t casually move from relationship to relationship.

He wasn’t ready to date again yet, explaining that his recent breakup with Rose meant rushing into something new would feel disrespectful to their relationship. He felt it was important to give himself time to heal and move on. However, he suggested he might be open to dating by season four of The Night Agent, as Peter would have had more time to process the breakup and consider starting to date again.

When they first asked if my character would be open to a new romance, I immediately said no. I didn’t believe he would simply move on from Rose. He’s not a womanizer; he truly cares for Rose and their relationship. Perhaps later, maybe in the fourth season, he might start considering what his life looks like without her. But I strongly felt that pursuing another relationship wasn’t something my character would do.

The Night Agent season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix.
