Roseanne Barr’s Son Spills on Her Reaction to The Conners Finale: Is the Feud Over?
2025 television programming signified the conclusion of an epoch for one of TV’s most acclaimed sitcom families, as ABC’s “The Conners” joined numerous other series wrapping up this year. However, none of the others on that list had the same longevity as the successor to “Roseanne.” The spinoff concluded its run after a truncated seventh season, mirroring the flagship’s premature tenth season. Since the original sitcom was terminated, the comedienne has expressed much contempt for it and Executive Producer Sara Gilbert. Yet, today?
Speaking as a dedicated fan, I recently learned about Barr’s thoughts on “The Conners” through her son Jake Pentland, who is also her representative. Interestingly, Jake mentioned that he wasn’t even aware the show was ending at the time. The tone of her current sentiments appears to have transitioned from bitter hostility to a ‘don’t give a f*ck’ indifference.

‘As a fan, I find John Goodman’s comments about the ending of The Conners bittersweet, considering my age and reluctance to embrace change.’
Following the finale, Jake Pentland shared with TMZ that while his family continues to believe she was unfairly dismissed from a lucrative TV project, they are pleased that the team who worked on the show for years could earn a living due to something their mother created. Despite not being overly humble, this sentiment remains valid regardless.
According to Pentland, Roseanne Barr and her team are now comfortable with the current state of affairs since The Conners has ended, meaning there won’t be any more ongoing issues related to Roseanne‘s broadcast. This could potentially open up a period of genuine tranquility without the presence of Lanford being an issue.
What Roseanne Barr Has Previously Said About The Conners
Instead of indiscriminately criticizing “The Conners,” Barr is known for expressing her opinions freely when directly asked. In fact, she even leaked her character’s death before the series premiere, but after the show followed through with it, she toned down her comments, taking a more moderate stance and saying something like: “I share my thoughts openly when asked, but I’ve learned to be more cautious after revealing my character’s fate prematurely.
I choose to remain impartial about it. I neither support nor condemn it. This is how I generally approach things. I maintain a neutral stance. I avoid taking sides in the matter, not wishing harm upon anyone, and certainly not wishing well for those who may be my adversaries. Simply put, I stay neutral.
The stance of impartiality evolved over the years. Notably in 2023, she publicly criticized Sara Gilbert for not supporting her when she was dismissed, and for persistently discussing the matter on her talk show, asserting that:
On The Talk, Sara Gilbert not only betrayed me by acting against me behind my back, but she also had the audacity to discuss daily, in disbelief, my supposed racism, making it a constant source of embarrassment for me.
Regardless of any prior tension, John Goodman, a former co-star, expressed in June 2023 that their shared past was wonderful, and he continues to hold affection for her. He also mentioned that he had always been uneasy about witnessing unkind remarks about her in the media.
It’s uncertain if all the rifts between the ex-cast members of Dan, Becky, Darlene, and Jackie will magically heal now that they’re no longer mainstays on primetime TV. However, I truly wish there won’t be any more disagreements among them. Perhaps one day, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, and Laurie Metcalf might reunite on screen again, and it would be wonderful if other actors could join this imagined reunion project.

In the last two episodes titled “Exercise Bands, Money Plans, and Faraway Lands” and “The Truck Stops Here,” the Conners family bid their farewells to fans, featuring the main family members as well as newcomers such as Nat Faxon’s Neville and Katey Sagal’s Louise. Almost the entire family (excluding D.J. and his relatives who are no longer around) visited the cemetery to express their thoughts, which ranged from tender remembrances to less-than-gentle words for the deceased.
I found Harris’ casual comment about the Lunch Box’s meal tasting great quite amusing, to be honest. However, I’m curious to know Barr’s perspective on that specific scene.
Viewers have the opportunity to watch every single season of the show “Roseanne” in its entirety by subscribing to Peacock. On the other hand, “The Conners” can be enjoyed by those who subscribe to Disney+.
