Roseanne Barr reveals who is to blame for her career-ending racist tweet
Roseanne Barr deflected accountability for her career-ending Tweet in a new interview.
In 2018, a 2 am tweet by Barr, aged 72, about former Barack Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett was extremely controversial. This comment led to the cancellation of the “Roseanne” reboot, as network executives deemed her tweet as offensive and inappropriate.
Barring any prior knowledge, Barr claimed she was unaware of Jarrett’s heritage as an African American when making a comment that likened her to a hypothetical offspring between the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.
Currently, Barr is pondering over the recent uproar, stating in a recent conversation with Variety that she was divinely inspired to post the tweet by none other than a divine being.
As a devoted believer, I assert that my actions were guided by divine instruction, likening their impact to a powerful nuclear explosion.
Barr referred to the tweet as a “spot-on caption.” She admitted to being unaware that Jarrett, who played a role in Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, is African American.
Roseanne expressed that she had been tormented by distressing dreams about returning to her TV role on ABC, but then she felt awakened after what she perceived as divine intervention.
I usually have my laptop on the bed, and that day was no exception. As I opened it up, I came across a post featuring a side-by-side image of Valerie Jarrett and Helena Bonham Carter in heavy makeup as Ari from “Planet of the Apes.” The resemblance between the two was uncanny, almost like they were photocopies of each other. So, I added a caption to it.
She also denied that the tweet was racist.
In a conversation, Barr explained that other individuals mistakenly perceived his tweet as implying Black people resemble monkeys, when in reality, he was referring to the film ‘Planet of the Apes,’ a production centered around the theme of totalitarian rule.
Screenwriter Rod Serling himself expressed that the focus is on German Jews, rather than African-Americans, in this context. It’s essential to clarify as the narrative does not revolve around Black individuals.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit: Following my stand-up act, it was revealed that more than two million fellow Americans took to Google, searching for information about Valerie Jarrett and the Iran deal.
‘That was my intent. So whatever,’ she quipped.
Previously, Barr stated that she had been affected by alcohol and Ambien at the time she published the questionable tweets, and later chose to depart from the platform.

Due to a controversial tweet that went viral, Roseanne’s TV show was initially canceled. However, it was later revived under a new name, The Conners, but without Roseanne Barr.
Her character was killed off by an opioid overdose.
In a recent conversation, she expressed her displeasure by stating that the decision to eliminate her character was both “foolish” and “narrow-minded.” Moreover, she shared her frustration, saying, “I was infuriated that they took away my rights and ended my existence.
She mentioned, “I’m curious about how they justify their decision to remove me from the project, given that no sponsor had withdrawn yet.
Barr also explained that she regrets apologizing for her Tweets.
‘I made the mistake of apologizing, and it only got worse after that,’ she said.
The Conners supplanted Roseanne after Roseanne Barr’s May 2018 firing from the show.
In the TV show, Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Lecy Goranson consistently reprised their roles, playing their respective characters throughout its run.
As a devoted fan, I found the revamped series wrapping up with me receiving a settlement related to my on-screen partner’s demise. Later, I paid tribute to her memory by visiting her gravesite alongside her family.
In May 2018, Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, reached out to Jarrett personally to express his apologies for a situation that made her feel uneasy.
Jarrett stated during a townhall discussion titled ‘Everyday Racism in America’, broadcasted in May 2018 on MSNBC, that he informed him privately before announcing it publicly that the show was being canceled.
She stated, ‘Let’s use this as an opportunity for learning first. Rest assured, I’m okay. However, it concerns me deeply for those individuals lacking support from friends or allies during challenging times.’

In my line of work as a lifestyle expert, I often find myself reflecting on the daily realities that many individuals face. For instance, imagine yourself strolling along, focused on your own path, when you spot someone tightly gripping their belongings or crossing the street to avoid an uncertain situation. Or consider the conversations that every Black parent I know with a son must have, often referred to as “The Talk.” These are just small glimpses into the everyday experiences that shape our communities in profound ways.
Jarrett said that ‘those ordinary examples of racism that happen every single day.’
Lately, I find myself in the spotlight for sharing that I’ve been excluded from President Donald Trump’s close circle, even though I’ve stood by him faithfully for decades and offered my unwavering support.
In a conversation last February, she expressed, “I’m going solo here, I’ve risen above all that nonsense,” following Trump’s decision to appoint Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson, who were embroiled in scandals, as Special Ambassadors instead of her in the Hollywood representation.
She shared with Variety, “I’m not someone who blindly follows the party line for anyone or anything; I only stand for myself. The Trump team, or whoever manages it, seems to find me somewhat intimidating. As a vocal comedian, I can see why they might feel that way.
