She’s nominated for Best Actress at the 98th Academy Awards this Sunday.
Rose Byrne wowed on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, arriving with her husband Bobby Cannavale in a beautiful, strapless black Dior gown. Many considered her the best-dressed of the night.
The 46-year-old actress, known for her role in Bridesmaids, looked effortlessly elegant in a stunning floor-length gown. The dress had a fitted shape that flared out at the bottom, and was beautifully decorated with detailed floral embroidery.
The dress featured delicate white flowers on the top, flowing down into a skirt that flared out like a trumpet and included a long, elegant train.
The gown was stunning, but Byrne made the outfit even more impactful with a large, sparkling diamond necklace that caught the light on the red carpet.
She paired the dazzling necklace with statement gold earrings.
The actress, originally from Sydney, styled her brown hair in a neat updo to highlight her dress and jewelry.
For her makeup she opted for a bold red lip and luminous, glowing skin.
The dress fit snugly around Byrne’s body and then flowed out at the bottom, giving her a dramatic and confident look as she walked the red carpet.
It is a big night for Byrne who has scored her first-ever Oscars nomination.
Following her Golden Globes victory, she’s also up for the Best Actress award for her performance in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’.
Speaking about her major nod, Byrne said she was in complete shock.
She said she felt like she was an unwelcome outsider, telling The Hollywood Reporter in January, ‘It’s like I’ve slipped in through the back door.’
Considering the historical importance, grand spectacle, and sheer size of it all, it’s hard not to appreciate its worth.
It’s amazing to be a part of something with such a rich history and tradition, like the Oscars. I’ve always loved the show – growing up in Sydney, Australia, I used to watch it and was captivated by how grand and theatrical it was.
Saoirse Byrne is a strong contender for the Academy Award, but she’s facing tough competition from Jessie Buckley, another Golden Globe winner and Irish actress, as well as Kate Hudson (for Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
Earlier this month, she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy film, beating out both Emma and Kate to claim the award.
Conan O’Brien is returning as host, bringing a well-known presence to the show. He previously hosted a ceremony that achieved the highest viewership in five years.
The 98th Oscars will be televised live in more than 200 territories worldwide.
