Rose Byrne, 46, is a vision in a cutout gown at 2026 Independent Spirit Awards… one month after first Golden Globe win

Rose Byrne looked stunning at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Hollywood on Sunday, wearing a striking outfit.

The Australian actress, 46, recently shared that being a mother has been difficult, and she was among the stars—including Kaia Gerber and Kirsten Dunst—at the red carpet event.

Saoirse Byrne was nominated for Best Lead Performance for her work in the 2025 comedy-drama, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

The celebrity stunned in a sleek black dress with a striking cutout at the waist.

The outfit featured layers of fabric in shades of blue, yellow, and green, particularly on the right side and back.

Her brunette locks were parted in the middle and pulled back away from her face into a sleek up do.

She completed her outfit for the celebration with silver earrings and matching rings.

Byrne wore glamorous makeup, including mascara and smoky eyeshadow.

A touch of blush highlighted her cheekbones, and a neutral lip color completed the look.

The actress, known for her role in ‘The Insidious,’ displayed her dress as she arrived at The Hollywood Palladium for the event.

She then went on stage to present the Best Documentary award, which was given to Alisa Payne for her film, The Perfect Neighbor.

Byrne received a nomination for Best Lead Performance for her role as Linda in the film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You at Sunday’s awards ceremony. The film was released last October.

The project also featured appearances by Conan O’Brien, Danielle Macdonald, Christian Slater, and A$AP Rocky.

According to IMDB, the story centers around a woman struggling with her life and career who is also dealing with a sick daughter, a husband who isn’t around, a missing person, and a complicated connection with her therapist. She’s on the brink of falling apart while trying to handle everything.

Saoirse Byrne’s performance in the film has been highly praised by critics, and she recently won her first Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy – an honor she received last January.

During her acceptance speech, she made a funny comment and explained why her partner, Bobby Cannavale, wasn’t there with her.

She explained to the audience that her husband, Bobby, couldn’t be there because he was at a reptile show in New Jersey – they were both going to get a bearded dragon!

The actress continued, saying she hadn’t prepared a speech, but was happy she didn’t have to sing in the movie. She expressed her gratitude to her fellow nominees and shared her disbelief at being there.

She playfully expressed her gratitude, thanking everyone for their faith in her and the chance to work on the film. She added with a laugh that they filmed the entire movie in just 25 days on a very small budget – around $8.50!

I’m incredibly grateful to be here – it feels surreal, like something out of a movie. And I’m thrilled my brother George could join me tonight! A big thanks also to my parents, who subscribed to Paramount Plus all the way from Sydney just to watch the Golden Globes.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Byrne discussed the film’s recent success and the positive reviews it has received.

When I first read the script, I immediately felt it was something special – truly one of a kind and unlike anything I’d ever seen. But honestly, even then, I had no idea what was coming next. It completely exceeded my expectations!

She added that she hadn’t anticipated the movie – written and directed by Mary Bronstein – would resonate with viewers.

The actress explained that she’s stopped trying to predict what audiences will like. However, she immediately felt this project was unique and a great chance to take on something new.

I was really worried about getting it right, because it was a gift for an actress. I got to experiment with everything – I was pushed to my limits and really challenged, and it was for a feature film, which is a fantastic opportunity you don’t often get.

Byrne added, ‘I was so hyper aware of that when I signed on and Mary approached me.’

With awards season underway, ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ has also earned several nominations and awards.

Ellen Byrne received her first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Actress, and the awards ceremony will be held on March 15th.

She’s also been nominated for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role at the upcoming Actor Awards (previously known as the SAG Awards) and will be attending the ceremony.

The actress, who was born in Australia, has appeared in several films and TV shows throughout her career, including “Marie Antoinette” (2006), “28 Weeks Later” (2008), “Insidious” (2010), “Bridesmaids” (2011), and the series “Platonic.”
