Rosa Salazar Drops Another Major Role After Cut from Captain America 4—Here’s What Happened

2025 hasn’t been a standout year for actress Rosa Salazar so far. After her entire set of scenes were removed from a project, the actor has opted to leave her leading part in the upcoming CBS drama series Einstein.

As stated by sources, after the 2026-27 television season, Salazar chose not to renew her contract, which was approved, leading to an amicable separation between the parties. This early release allows Salazar more flexibility to pursue new roles instead of waiting another year for Einstein’s production to begin. It remains undecided whether Salazar’s character, Detective Inspector Veronica Paris of the New Jersey State Police, will be replaced or if a fresh character will be introduced. Salazar previously shared the screen with Matthew Gray Gubler in the pilot.

This year, Salazar has regrettably been excluded from another significant project after being involved with Captain America: Brave New World produced by Marvel Studios. Initially, she was intended to portray Rachel Leighton/Diamondback, a character belonging to the Serpent Society, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. However, her scenes were ultimately eliminated from the final version of the film.

What Is Einstein About?

Featuring the great-grandson of Albert Einstein, this character is a brilliant but aimless professor who enjoys his comfortable tenure until his rebellious behavior leads to legal troubles. To escape these issues, he finds himself assisting a local detective in solving her most intricate cases.

Einstein signals Gubler’s comeback to television after his lead role in Criminal Minds, where he portrayed criminal profiler Dr. Spencer Reid throughout the initial 15 seasons that aired on CBS. Unlike many others, he didn’t rejoin for the revived series, Criminal Minds: Evolution, which debuted in March. Nevertheless, it has been announced that he will make an appearance in an upcoming episode of Season 18, scheduled to air on Paramount+ on May 8.

It remains uncertain as to why CBS decided to postpone the airing of Einstein, originally scheduled for the 2025-26 season, despite it being greenlit. Nevertheless, the series is speculated to follow in the footsteps of other CBS dramas like Tracker and Sheriff Country, by receiving an extended production period and a promotional campaign potentially launching during March Madness 2026.

Regarding the CBS network’s schedule for 2025-26, it is anticipated to unveil this plan later in the month during Upfronts. Some returning series that are expected to grace the CBS schedule next season include beloved shows like “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage”, “Tracker”, and “Ghosts”. Additionally, new sensations such as “Watson” and “NCIS: Origins” will also be part of the lineup.

Einstein is slated to premiere on CBS during the 2026-27 television season.
