As a devoted fan of Rory Feek, I can’t help but be moved by his latest news. The country singer’s heartwarming story of love and perseverance has touched me deeply, and I find myself feeling a strong connection to him through his raw and honest words.
Country singer Rory Feek has announced he has wed his girlfriend Rebecca.
Country artist, aged 59, disclosed his marriage on his blog and shared glimpses of the rural wedding through a self-produced music video for a track titled “I Do,” dedicated to Rebecca.
Feek married Rebecca, his daughter’s schoolteacher, in Greycliff, Montana on July 14.
Eight years have passed since Rory’s wife and musical collaborator Joey, who was only 40 at the time, sadly died from cervical cancer. The two of them formed the country music duo Rory + Joey.
In the end, it was their shared daughter with Joey from Indiana who granted Rory and Rebecca the approval they needed to get married.

Rory explained that he and Rebecca had hidden their romantic connection from Indiana at first, believing she would eventually discover it on her own.
He wrote on his blog that he sought Indiana’s blessing for his romantic involvement with Rebecca prior to planning their wedding.
Feek said neither he or Rebecca wanted to interfere in Indiana’s connection with her late mother.
In an entry for my Love Comes Softly blog published during the spring season, I mentioned Rebecca and me making a decision to be with each other. We were ready to explore this newfound connection without putting too much pressure on it, including the idea of marriage. However, we understood that matrimony was a possibility, but neither of us felt prepared for that conversation at the time.
Until then, Indiana primarily knew Rebecca as their teacher and friend. Although she had grown into something more significant to me, I hesitated to reveal this to her. In truth, I wasn’t confident she would ever understand or accept it fully.
The depth of Rebecca’s affection for her mother is immense and influential in her existence. Neither Rebecca nor I wished to disturb this bond in any manner. We thus chose to be patient and observe if Indiana might eventually consider Rebecca as something more than just a friend to her grandfather, and to herself.
Eventually, Indiana proposed the idea of a wedding between her father and Rebecca.
One morning in late March, while preparing to take Indy to school, Rebecca and the rest of the family paused for a brief prayer. Shortly after bidding each other goodbye at the door, they returned. Rebecca then shared, “Rory, Indiana asked me something that I believe you should know.”

‘I asked Indy, and she told me that she said, “Ms Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa…”.
I was pleased, yet taken by surprise. So, I suggested that we all need to begin praying about that matter.
I recall Indy turning to face me with a thoughtful expression. He shared, “I’ve mentioned to Miss Rebecca that my mother has been absent for quite some time. If she were to marry me instead, perhaps she could take on the role of a new mother figure in my life.”
Without further explanation needed, while dabbing away some tears, I shared with her my belief that it was an excellent suggestion. Through additional prayer and dialogue, we ultimately reached a decision on a specific plan and date.

During their marriage ceremony, Feek surprised Rebecca with the song he had written for her, I Do.
Before their wedding, Feek wrote a song in secrecy from Rebecca. However, before fully keeping it hidden, he tried it out on his audience during one of his performances.
The wedding comes eight years after the death of Rory’s wife and singing partner, Joey.
Joey, half of the country music duo Joey+Rory, passed away on March 4, 2016, at the age of 40 following a long fight against cervical cancer.
When Rory’s wife passed away, he became the sole parent to their two-year-old daughter, Indiana.
In addition to Indiana, Rory also has adult daughters Heidi and Hope from his first marriage.
