As a longtime fan of Boyzone and Ronan Keating, I must admit I was initially thrilled to see him performing at the 2024 Melbourne Cup. However, watching his performance left me quite underwhelmed, much like a half-baked scone straight from the microwave. The energy seemed lacking, and the performance felt more like a casual karaoke session than a grand event.
2024 Melbourne Cup audience members, left unimpressed, have delivered harsh criticism towards Ronan Keating’s performance.
47-year-old Boyzone vocalist appeared on stage at Flemington Racecourse on a Tuesday, sharing the limelight with singer Ricki-Lee Coulter prior to the grand Melbourne Cup horse race.
He belted out his hit When You Say Nothing At All before New Zealander-Australian star Ricki-Lee, 38, joined him to sing Lovin’ Each Day.
On the other hand, viewers at home criticized Ronan’s performance as “desperate” on social media platforms, expressing their disappointment with his appearance.
One individual recently expressed to X (previously known as Twitter), “Just how eager is the #MelbourneCup2024 for Ronan Keating? It seems like there wasn’t anyone else accessible?
In simpler terms, the writer is saying, ‘A person of Irish descent apologizes to Melbourne on behalf of Ronan Keating for his strange sounds. Feel free to keep him; we wouldn’t have him back anyway.’
‘Ronan Keating is such random entertainment,’ another added.
However others seemed to enjoy the performance as they defended him on social media.

‘Great performance from Ronan Keating and @TheRickiLee,’ one gushed.
On November 6, Ronan is scheduled to perform twice, firstly at the VRC Crown Oaks Club Lunch, and then again during the celebrations for Crown Oaks Day on November 7.
After confirming their move to Australia with his family, Ronan will be making an appearance at the Melbourne Cup.
The Irish musician shared that he and his wife, an Australian TV producer named Storm, along with their children Cooper (age 7) and Coco (age 4), have relocated to Sydney together.
‘We are in Sydney mainly and we will be here until next year,’ he told 9News.
I’ve had a moment of reflection, and it seems my future lies more firmly rooted in Australia, closer to my cherished family. I can’t help but feel a profound affection for this land, and I’m eager to deepen those connections.
In 2015, the couple tied the knot following their encounter when the ex-Boyzone band member served as a judge on The X Factor back in 2011. They aspired to provide their kids with an authentic Australian way of life.

Originating from Australia, Storm spent her childhood on a ranch located in the remote regions of Northern Queensland. Later, she shifted base to Los Angeles, working as an intern for HBO.
He usually enjoys visiting Australia personally, but this specific week, especially being in Melbourne and attending the Melbourne Cup, is particularly special for him. (He said this.)
As a devoted admirer, I must say, the dedication everyone pours into this haven and its breathtaking charm are truly remarkable. Simply put, it’s nothing short of majestic.
In addition to Ronan, there are three other grown-up kids – Jack (age 25), Missy (age 23), and Ali (age 18) – whom he co-parents with his former spouse, Yvonne Connolly, having been married for a span of 12 years.
