ROH Final Battle 2024 card will have six title matches

As a die-hard wrestling fan with decades of experience under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for Ring of Honor’s (ROH) return to the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom for “Final Battle.” Having attended numerous ROH events at this iconic venue, I can attest to its electrifying atmosphere and the history it holds.

This coming Friday, Ring of Honor (ROH) is set to reappear at the renowned Hammerstein Ballroom, a place where “Final Battle” has been hosted multiple times, last in 2018. During a recent press call on Tuesday, Tony Khan shared that this will mark his inaugural visit to this historic venue.

During the go home show on Honor Club, four matches were announced for the “Zero Hour” pre-show. Harley Cameron will face STARDOM’s HANAKO. Cameron has spent some time in ROH, while HANAKO will be making her debut. The remaining matches have had some build heading into “Final Battle”. Grizzled Young Veterans just lost the NJPW STRONG Tag Team titles on Sunday. They will face the Dark Order.

A feud between Gates of Agony and LeeJ (Lee Johnson and EJ Nduka) has been building to a head and they’ll fc on the pre-show. Johnson defeated KAUN on Thursday night’s episode. Undisputed Kingdom will face The Infantry.

On episode 95, two unexpected bouts for the main event were revealed. Katsuyori Shibata will square off against Tommy Billington in a first-time encounter. Billington’s last bout was with AEW during “Zero Hour” at ALL IN this year. Now, he’ll make his ROH debut. Meanwhile, Mansoor from MxM Collection will battle Atlantis Jr., who once held the ROH TV Championship.

In ROH, even the main event isn’t immune to spontaneous matches. Last week saw an unexpected bout between Jay Lethal and QT Marshall. Lethal has had a few independent wrestling appearances but hasn’t wrestled in ROH since May. He also participated in the same “Zero Hour” match at ALL IN alongside Billington. During Thursday’s show, Lethal expressed his reluctance to face Marshall, stating he prefers bigger opponents to regain his title contention. Meanwhile, Marshall is attempting to leverage his upcoming match with Big Boom! AJ.

In the upcoming grand showdown, known as “The Final Clash,” there will be six championship battles. Brian Cage is set to defend his TV title in a grueling Survival of the Fittest contest. His opponents include Komander, Willie Mack, Blake Christian, Kyle Davis, and AR Fox. As of late, Cage has primarily been tag teaming with Lance Archer.

In this upcoming TV show, the Women’s title is at stake as Red Velvet prepares to face Leyla Hirsch. Last year, Hirsch was defeated by Velvet in the quarterfinals of the tournament that crowned the first champion. More recently, Lee Moriarty challenged anyone after beating Matt Taven; he put his PURE Championship on the line for Friday night.

Over the last few weeks, The Righteous have been torturing Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara). Dutch revealed that Dusty Rhodes had believed in him 14 years ago. He claims that Dusty bestowed his bullrope to him because he would appreciate it more than his own sons. On episode 95, The Righteous showed up at Dustin’s wrestling school and attacked him with the bullrope and left him in a pool of blood. They Facetimed Guevara to show him what they’d done. The tag team titles will be on the line in a first ever double bullrope match.

During the media call, I asked about the tag match along with an update on The Von Erichs, who are ⅔ of the Trios Champions with Rhodes. Khan stated that he was previously unaware of Dutch’s relationship with the elder Rhodes. They’ve had great moments with Sons of Texas. He said that Ross Von Erich had an injury that has taken longer to heal than expected, so they’ve focused on the tag titles instead. Ross is expected back soon.

At “Final Battle”, Chris Jericho, who goes by “The Nueve”, has declared he’ll face a New York City combatant with a warrior’s spirit. However, Matt Cardona interrupted this announcement. The title match was then confirmed officially. Just last weekend, Jericho made an appearance at GCW to attack Cardona.

On Wednesday, ATHENA celebrated two years as the Women’s Champion. In a long-awaited match, she will defend her title against her protege and ex-student, Billie Starkz, who has earned this opportunity after coming very close to winning last year at “Final Battle.” This rematch follows their main event from last year.

Over the past year, Starkz claimed the first Women’s TV Championship. Since then, she lost the title and the champ has been disappointed with her performance. Feeling frustrated by this treatment, Starkz eventually confronted her mentor. Up until Thursday’s episode, ATHENA had not regarded Starkz as a serious contender. However, after their tag team match, Starkz removed the distinctive spinner from the title belt, infuriating “The Fallen Goddess”. This incident made ATHENA realize that Starkz is now a threat to her.

During the media call, Khan announced that the World title matches would be a double main event. On Wednesday, ATHENA said that she would be making ROH history again alongside Starkz when they headlined “Final Battle”. They are the first two women in ROH history to main event at Hammerstein.

At 7 PM Eastern Time, the show titled ‘Zero Hour’ is set to stream live on Honor Club, as well as on ROH’s YouTube, X, and Facebook pages. The main event commences at 8 PM ET exclusively on Honor Club.
