Rogue One's Felicity Jones gives promising response to a potential return to Star Wars

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the Star Wars universe, I can confidently say that the potential return of Jyn Erso is not just a flicker of hope, but a beacon guiding us through the cosmos. Felicity Jones’ cryptic statements have left us all wondering if we might soon witness the rebirth of our beloved Stardust.

Since the release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Felicity Jones has frequently voiced her desire to reprise her role as Jyn Erso in the Star Wars universe. Lately, though, Jones seems less hopeful about appearing in “Andor” season 2 and has stated that she won’t be involved with it.

It seems there’s reason to suspect that Jones might have been holding back, and it could be likely that she’ll rejoin the franchise. During an interview with Liam Crawley from Screen Rant about her upcoming film, The Brutalist, Jones sounded more hopeful than ever about Jyn Erso’s future. When asked if fans should consider Jyn Erso as gone, she emphatically stated, “No way. We’ll never say goodbye to her. She will continue.

In a somewhat cryptic manner, it appears that “she’ll live on” might refer to something other than the physical existence of a character who was destroyed by the Death Star. It seems possible that director Gareth Edwards could have been implying that Jyn Erso’s impact as a Rebel hero will endure beyond her life in the Star Wars universe. Furthermore, he expanded on his thoughts about Jyn’s future role within Star Wars.

I mean, never say never. She’s a pretty badass character. Maybe she could come back as a hologram or something, which is completely possible in the Star Wars universe.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the contract for Jones has been expanded in the Star Wars universe, hinting at a possible return similar to her Rogue One co-star Diego Luna. While a Jyn Erso standalone series never materialized and Andor didn’t revolve around her character, Jones’ contractual clauses always left room for a potential comeback.

Initially, it appeared that Erso’s return to Andor might be feasible, and when executed skillfully, it need not contradict the established lore.

In the second season of “Andor,” Jyn’s storyline might span across 2-3 episodes and intertwine with Cassian’s, preventing their encounter before the events of “Rogue One.” This arrangement could offer a glimpse into Jyn’s background, focusing on the events that led to her imprisonment by the Empire on Wobani, ultimately paving the way for her rescue by the Rebel Alliance, thereby setting up her story in “Rogue One.

Andor highlights the parallels between Jyn and Cassian’s adventures, making their shared tragic end even more poignant. It seems as though these two characters were destined to be connected, despite their brief time together. In numerous aspects, their life paths mirrored one another right up until their simultaneous deaths on Scarif, just before the Death Star cut short their potentially long lives in a single explosion.

As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I can’t help but imagine the excitement when Jyn Erso, my beloved “Stardust,” might reappear in Andor or another upcoming film. The galaxy far, far away would be all the richer for her return!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Andor are streaming on Disney+.
