Roger Dubuis teams up once more with acclaimed tattoo artist Dr. Woo for the third installment in their creative watchmaking partnership – the Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III. This collaboration honors a mutual dedication to individuality and artistic discovery. The watch seamlessly blends the intricate mechanics of Swiss watchmaking with Dr. Woo’s distinctive single-needle tattoo technique.

This watch is themed around a “cosmic peace exploration,” taking creative influences from the cosmos and the flow of time. At its core lies the “Tourbillon Galaxy,” which takes inspiration from Messier 51a, more famously known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, found approximately 31 million light-years away. The watch’s captivating spiral movement replicates the workings of a tourbillon complication and Roger Dubuis’ signature celestial shape. Adorning the design are recurring rocket motifs from Dr. Woo on the sapphire crystal, bearing the message “We Come in Peace,” as well as a laser-etched spider at the 10 o’clock position and three shimmering nebulas sculpted in pink gold at the 9 o’clock mark.

Crafted from titanium and 18k pink gold, this 42mm timepiece boasts a sleek design that blends sophistication with futuristic flair. At the hours between 10 and 11, a spiral pattern mimicking a black hole’s entrance is featured, symbolizing journeying through the “temporal corridors.” This theme recurs on the sapphire crystal caseback as a captivating checkerboard spiral, representing space warping and cosmic depth. Accompanying this is an engraving on the back inviting extraterrestrial life to engage in a dialogue of exploration.

For this particular model, the watch is powered by the Manufacturer’s caliber RD515, which has been specifically tailored for this edition. A distinctive galactic spiral detail in polished stainless steel is highlighted through a redesigned three-arm upper bridge on its tourbillon cage. The RD515 boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve and carries the Poinçon de Genève hallmark, with every one of its 193 components being immaculately hand-finished.

As a die-hard gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming boutique release of the Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III by Roger Dubuis. With only 28 pieces up for grabs, this limited edition timepiece promises to be a rare gem in my collection.
