Rod Stewart lashes out at ‘yellow teeth’ Gregg Wallace in another outburst after he took aim at ‘tubby bully’ for ‘humiliating’ his wife Penny Lancaster during Celebrity MasterChef appearance
As a seasoned observer of the culinary world and its colorful characters, I must say that the recent developments surrounding Gregg Wallace are both intriguing and concerning. Having spent years in the entertainment industry myself, I understand the pressure that comes with being in the public eye and the potential for mistakes or misunderstandings to escalate.
On Thursday, Rod Stewart lashed out once more, this time targeting Gregg Wallace, following his previous comments accusing Wallace of bullying his wife Penny Lancaster during Celebrity MasterChef.
At the age of 79, this veteran rock musician spent an evening at a bar located within Claridge’s, and during that time, he was questioned by photographers about whether or not he would be extending an invitation to Gregg for their Christmas meal.
With a hint of displeasure, Stewart – slightly off balance while approaching his parked car – retorted: “Oh, you mean those golden grins?
60-year-old Wallace resigned as the host of the BBC cooking program last Thursday, allowing for an inquiry into the accusations of misconduct against him to be completed.
For approximately 17 years, the former greengrocer was confronted with allegations of inappropriate conduct by 13 individuals, including broadcaster Kirsty Wark, during his involvement in five different programs that aired from 2005 to 2022.
However, following that incident, a wave of new accusations emerged, such as inappropriately touching, pressing his private parts against a coworker, and exposing himself to another person in his changing room.
The week before, Stewart branded Wallace a ‘tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully’ for ‘humiliating’ his wife when she appeared on his show in 2021.
During her stint on the show, Lancaster found herself shedding tears when Wallace admonished her for the significant delay in preparing the food, and subsequently declined to consume it.
After Greg Wallace left the MasterChef program, Stewart shared on Instagram, “Greg has been let go from MasterChef.
It seems farewell suits Wallace, considering he brought shame upon my wife during her appearance. Interestingly enough, the part where he did so was edited out, wasn’t it?
‘You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart’
As Lancaster made an entrance, the kitchen erupted into disorder. Wallace expressed his concern to her, saying, “Friend, we absolutely cannot afford to be ten minutes behind schedule,” regarding her tardiness as a significant issue.
“Once you understand that someone’s actions are often rooted in their personal battles rather than about you, you develop the ability to show understanding and kindness.
It came to light on Thursday that John Torode had consistently expressed worries over his MasterChef co-host’s inappropriate actions, yet no steps were taken in response.
According to sources, a 59-year-old chef from Australia wasn’t pleased with certain words Wallace used during filming, as he knew about Wallace’s assertive reputation.
It is believed that Torode held discussions with representatives from Banijay UK, the company responsible for producing Masterchef, regarding the conduct of his fellow host.
According to The Sun, as Wallace navigates potential television career continuation, Torode and his wife, actress Lisa Faulkner, seem eager to disassociate themselves from the ongoing scandal.
The newspaper was informed last night: ‘It’s clear that John wasn’t unaware of Gregg’s questionable actions. However, he didn’t approve or participate in them.’
He doesn’t possess a humor style that is overtly masculine, and when he remarked about them not truly being friends outside their shared context, he was fully aware of his actions.
‘It was his way of distancing himself when attempts to do it otherwise failed.’
Behind the camera, it seems that Wallace and Torode’s long-running partnership on their show for 19 years has been marked by disagreements, arguments, and strife, despite their public appearances together in episodes, weddings, and onscreen disputes.
Despite serving as Wallace’s best man at his fourth wedding with Anne Marie in 2016, it’s worth noting that there have been instances of disagreement between them so severe that filming for MasterChef had to be temporarily halted. In addition, Torode has mentioned on several occasions that he and Wallace have never truly maintained a close friendship.
After Torode’s wife alleged that Gregg repeatedly told offensive jokes during the filming of MasterChef, it’s clear that their relationship has become significantly strained.
According to the source, Torode frequently pointed out Wallace’s comments to the executives on set and made it plain that he wasn’t satisfied with them, yet he never filed an official grievance.
According to the source, Torode wasn’t sure if an official document was ever produced, but he suggested that higher-ups chose to overlook potential issues in order to safeguard the reputation of MasterChef.
Wallace denies any behaviour of a sexually harassing nature.
Torode chose not to comment on the Wallace scandal for a few days, but finally spoke up on Wednesday, stating: ‘I deeply cherish my role, and I hold MasterChef dear. Being involved with it brings me joy, and I plan to remain an integral part of it.’
It’s disheartening to learn that someone who was on our program didn’t have a fantastic time, and the recent news articles about this issue have been quite troubling for me.
While I’d be glad if we all share the same sentiment, it’s important to note that an inquiry is currently ongoing, a process I wholeheartedly back. Thus, for now, I can’t provide any additional insights. I trust this understanding and respect for my silence on this topic will continue as the investigation progresses.
His wife Lisa also reposted the message.
Wallace’s team chose not to respond when asked about the allegations that Torode had criticized his fellow host’s actions. We have reached out to Torode, the BBC, and Banijay UK for a response on this matter.
On a Wednesday, the author of Wallace’s 2012 memoir claimed anonymously that he had inappropriately touched her thigh while driving, pinched her behind during his appearance at the Good Food Show in Birmingham, and made an offensive sexual remark regarding Eton Mess.
On the next day, it was disclosed by TopMob that there’s a possibility Wallace might not appear in the upcoming season of MasterChef to ensure its broadcast.
Wallace had already filmed the forthcoming series for amateur chefs last month with Torode.
But he is now set to be wiped from the tapes before it is screened next year.
Although the BBC maintains that the fate of MasterChef hasn’t been determined until after the investigation’s conclusion, a source within production hinted to TopMob that the show may still proceed, with the possibility of editing out Gordon Ramsay (Wallace) entirely from the episodes under review.
In simpler terms, this implies that the show, an expensive production by Banijay, wouldn’t need to be discarded or abandoned. Instead, it could potentially move forward for release.
According to the source, it was recorded separately when Torode and Wallace provided their critiques on the contestants’ dishes.
‘John and Gregg were filmed individually using different cameras. It’s possible to edit the footage so that any two shots, or wider shots featuring both of them, can be combined. However, it may be challenging to remove Gregg entirely from some scenes, but it’s not impossible.’
Under growing pressure, Wallace’s competitor, James Martin, is now favored to replace him on the show MasterChef.
The 52-year-old first appeared on screens back in 1999 and hosted Saturday Kitchen for ten years from 2006.
However, Martin himself faced his own allegations of bullying back in 2023.
In 2018, just following his unexpected cancer diagnosis, he let loose with a profanity-laced outburst towards his television team, using explicit language on 42 separate occasions. Remarkably, a secret recording of this incident was later made public and shared online.
Later on, The Mail disclosed that he might get fired from ITV following the anger expressed by top executives over his actions.
Despite the scandal, he persisted with his morning show, weathered the storm, and now finds himself poised for a potential spot alongside John Torode on MasterChef.
It appears that the BBC might consider Lisa, Torode’s wife, as a potential new partner for him, given her status as the second-most likely choice at odds of 3/1.
The actress, aged 52, was victorious in the Celebrity MasterChef competition back in 2010 and has been a host for ‘John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen’ on ITV since 2019.
Another name for her is renowned television cook Nigella Lawson, standing at odds of 4/1, who’s now serving as a judge on the Australian adaptation of MasterChef.
Banijay UK, the production company responsible for MasterChef, stated that Wallace is dedicated to providing full cooperation during the entire procedure.
The company stated that although the accusers haven’t personally brought their complaints to our show’s producers or Banijay UK, we believe it’s necessary to initiate an immediate, independent investigation to thoroughly and fairly look into these matters.
During the ongoing review, Gregg Wallace has chosen to take a temporary leave from his position on MasterChef. He’s fully dedicated to providing assistance and cooperation throughout the entire process.
At Banijay UK, we prioritize the well-being of our staff, and we ensure that the conduct expected from everyone involved in our productions is explicitly communicated – to both cast members and crew. We make it a point to publicize various channels for expressing concerns, including an anonymous option, across our sets.
Although these accusations are about past events, any instances that come to our notice where our expectations aren’t fulfilled are diligently looked into and dealt with accordingly.
On Thursday evening, the BBC aired the semi-finals of MasterChef: The Professional with Wallace as a contestant. However, they have decided not to air the planned broadcast of two special Christmas episodes of the cooking program.
