Rod Stewart backs out of 200th Las Vegas show celebration, citing illness
As a film enthusiast with a penchant for music and a deep appreciation for the legends who graced our stages, I must admit that hearing about Rod Stewart‘s cancellation of his 200th show in Las Vegas was quite disheartening. The man is a rock icon, a living testament to the power of music, and to see him falter due to illness felt like a personal loss.
Legendary British rocker Rod Stewart announced he was cancelling the upcoming 200th performance of his extended Vegas residency due to a case of strep throat.
79-year-old Stewart wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, “I’m terribly sorry I can’t make it to the celebration of your 200th show, but unfortunately I’ve come down with strep throat. It seems others can manage work with this condition, but not me. I’m really disappointed and feel quite unfortunate. I’ve been eagerly anticipating this concert for a long time, and any trouble caused by my absence is deeply regretted.”

The iconic rocker and solo performer who’s known for being part of The Faces has been a constant presence at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas since 2011, gracing the stage there. He kicked off his 13th residency at the venue on July 24 and shared his latest album titled “Tears of Hercules” with fans in 2021.
Recently, Stewart criticized the ex-President Trump during a performance at Caesar’s, satirizing Trump’s remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris seemingly transforming into African American overnight.
“Stewart stated that it wasn’t until recently that he learned the individual was orange. This transformation occurred years later. Despite my acceptance, he insists on being identified as ‘Orange.’ Suddenly, his identity shifted, making him an ‘Orange’ person. I believe it’s worth investigating why this change happened.”
In a 2018 interview with The Times, Stewart expressed regret about social media, saying, “Things I could do before… But nowadays, everyone’s got a smartphone with a camera. You need to be careful where you step.”
As a seasoned traveler who has explored countless destinations worldwide, I can confidently say that my next stop will be none other than Caesar’s Residency, which I plan to visit again in 2025. Having been fortunate enough to have traversed this globe for years, I must admit that the anticipation of revisiting this captivating location is almost palpable. I eagerly look forward to reuniting with old friends and making new ones among the vibrant community that thrives there. The memories I made during my previous visit are still vivid in my mind, and I can’t wait to create more unforgettable moments amidst the enchanting landscapes of Caesar’s Residency.
