Rocket League Season 20 has a new Arena, a 4v4 mode, and Sonic items

It’s great to see Psyonix listening to players! This upcoming season of Rocket League looks really good, offering more than just cosmetic items – the rewards in the Rocket Pass are especially appealing.

Rocket League’s Season 20 begins on September 17th and lasts until December 3rd. The details were announced at the RLCS 2025 World Championship.

Players are really happy with the latest updates! They appreciate the new activities and gameplay alongside the cosmetic items for their cars and profiles. The developers are building on the success of Season 19, which was inspired by the game’s 10th anniversary, so we can expect even more exciting content in the future.

Everything you need to know about Rocket League Season 20 is here.

Pontiac Firebird and Chevrolet Astro in Rocket League Season 20

Okay, so Season 20’s Rocket Pass Premium is dropping some awesome new car bodies! I’m already planning which one I’m gonna unlock first – they look like they’ll be perfect additions to my garage.

  • Pontiac Firebird, with the Breakout hitbox: You get it at the very beginning of the seasonal progress.
  • Chevrolet Astro, with the Merc hitbox: Unlock this minivan in some higher Rocket Pass Premium tiers.

Boostfield Mall Arena

The new soccer field is bright and cheerful, making it a great spot to relax with friends – and play some Rocket League!

4v4 Rocket League on bigger Arenas

Season 19 of Rocket League featured some fun, limited-time events and game modes, such as 3v3 adidas Soccar Strike and Possession Rumble. Now, Season 20 is taking things a step further with even more exciting changes.

We’ve added a new 4v4 Competitive mode! To win, you’ll need to rethink your team’s strategy, and you can get some practice in with Casual matches.

To make the 4v4 action possible, Rocket League introduces two larger Arenas.

Sonic the Hedgehog in Rocket League

Sonic the Hedgehog is racing into Fortnite! Plus, fans can look forward to Sonic-themed items in Rocket League’s Season 20, including a new topper and goal explosion. Keep an eye out for the Sonic Sidescroller Player Banner and Looper Wheels too.

The Rocket League and Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration includes more than just cosmetic items. A special limited-time game mode based on Sonic will also be added later in Season 20, and more information will be shared soon.

Changes to Rocket Pass Premium in Season 20

Rocket League receives changes in progression through Rocket Pass Premium tiers.

  • No more Premium Challenges: all the rewards are available for everyone.
  • No more items in Weekly and Seasonal Challenges, only XP.
  • Some changes happen in total XP from Challenges: less XP in Seasonal Challenges overall and more XP for some individual Challenges.

In Season 20 of Rocket League, you can now access the Competitive Playlist by completing a set of new challenges for new players. This replaces the old system where you had to reach Level 20. The change is meant to discourage experienced players from creating new accounts to play against less skilled opponents, and we’ll be monitoring how well it works.

Season 20’s cosmetics are inspired by bright, fun places like shopping malls and retro arcades. These items really add to the game’s lively feel! And you can even get the Mad Rad Wheels for free – simply log in to claim them.

During Season 20, you can get the ‘Cartographer’ Player Title for free! It’s a special reward honoring Lethamyr’s dedication to the Rocket League community.

As a big Rocket League Esports fan, I’m really excited for the player transfer window coming up after the 2025 World Championship! It’s going to be awesome to see which pros join new teams and start gearing up for the 2026 season. I can’t wait to see how the rosters shake out!
